Looking To Upgrade My GPS.... Suggestions Or Insight?

Had a Rino 130 and would like to purchase a GPS that will operate the HUNT SD cards for my new state... anyone have any suggestions for success or failure stories? I would prefer not to spend more than $300. Thanks!

Look around and find a gpsmap60scx....that's what I did and I really like it. You can find them for about $150-200 regularly.

Did the same exact thing but with the 62S. Can get it on Amazon at $250, otherwise should be able to find a new or like new one for ~150-175 on eBay. It is a fantastic GPS. I use the HUNT maps myself and have encountered no issues at all. Plug it in, enable the map, see land boundaries. If you go with the 62, make sure you get at least the 62s (includes the Compass and Altimeter) - it apparently forces location updates faster than the base model.

I have an Garmin Oregon 450T. Its a good unit, but I really don't use many of the features. If i had to do it again I would get something lighter and more compact. Its not huge by any means, but the eTrex units are a little smaller. All I use mine for is keeping way points, route tracking, and sunrise/sunset. Just about any unit these days will do that.

It doesn't quite fit your budget, but I really like the Rino 650 and have been really impressed with the battery life and overall GPS performance. I run GPS map chips for several states copied to one card. I think I picked mine up on sale at Cabela's for $349 or $379 during a special sale. Nice having the radio functionality built into the GPS. Keep your eye out for a good deal you may be able to find an even better price or used?

How has your 650 done with the radio transmission?... I was looking at maybe a Rino 530hcx, but I no longer have a hunting "party" since I had to move to AZ.

Based on people's responses, here is what I have found so far:

Oregon 550T- 6.8oz w/ 3" screen
Rino 650- 11.3oz w/ 2.6" screen (w/ radio)
Rino 530hcx 10.3oz w/ 2.4" screen (w/ radio)
62S- 9.2oz w/ 2.6" screen
eTrex 30- 5.0oz w/ 2.2" screen

All numbers per Garmin's website and include the battery weight.... The Oregon looks pretty good right now to me; but long-term maybe a Rino would be a better investment since so many people are going to them and would probably save me having to pack GPS and radio.

Get one with a camera if you can. The pics aren't great quality but saving a waypoint by snapping a photo is super quick, and you then have a visual of what was at that waypoint. Amazon has the gpsmap 62sc for $285.
