I am looking for some advice on optics and suppressors.

I currently have a Sig Sauer Cross with an 18" barrel chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor. I also have a Ruger American Gen II chambered in 7prc. I have a Leupold VX-5HD 3-15x44 scope currently on my Sig Cross. I am wondering if that scope should go on my Ruger 7prc or stay on my cross.

My cross will be used in Minnesota, and out west. My 7prc will only be used out west.

If I move the Leupold to the 7 prc, what scope should I put on the 6.5?
Or if I keep the Leupold on the Sig Cross, what should I get for the 7PRC?

I'm not trying to break the bank, I under stand that you get what you pay for, I am just not looking to spend Nightforce type of money for budget rifles.

I would also like some guidance for a suppressor that would work well with both rifles, that i can switch back and forth.

Thanks in advance.

I would recommend checking out the Optics forum and the Suppressor Forum. Both have multiple topics that should help you narrow down your choices a bit.

Sell the Leupold. Buy a pair of SWFA 3-9x scopes for your rifle. Get an OG 6.5 suppressor (it will work on both rifles) or Reaper, AB Raptor 8, TBAC Ultra 7, etc.

Edit - to be blunt, I would also sell the 7PRC.

You really don't get what you pay for.

The easy, simple answer here is to sell the Leupold and buy two SWFA 3-9s.

ETA: Q beat me to it while I was typing.

What is on your 7prc now? What type of range do you plan to realistically shoot? Not what you wish or think you can shoot. The Sig is pretty set up now for most hunting.

For a very light weight not break the bank suppressor I like the Diligent Defense Enticer TI. Great suppression and you can go Plan B for mounting solutions between the two rifles.

It does. Just put a bore guide through it first to check it for yourself, but it has adequate clearance.
Wow, I remember when you threw a little hissy - holier than thou- bitch fit when I posted a general question asking about bore diameter on the 6.5 can... now you come out with this... what a piece of work lol

I advised against it until I measured it for myself. Opinions can change based upon facts and experiences.

Edit - to the extent that I was wrong, and/or offensive to you, my apologies.

I don't have anything on the 7prc right now. 400-500 yards depending on the situation.

I have looked at the Enticer S Ti, that's where I am leaning, I just wanted to get some other opinions first.

Would you elaborate on this? I am unfamiliar with SWFA. Why would you get rid of the 7prc?

Read about SWFAs all over this forum. BLUF: they are the best value for money in the hunting scope market.

There is no situation in North America where I would need a 7PRC. I think it’s a useless cartridge with too much recoil that doesn’t bring anything to the table at terminal ranges where I hunt. But if you want one, go for it.

Q gave his answer and I pretty much agree with him, especially since you stated that your max range was 500 yards. A 6.5 Creedmoor will do that all day, every day. If you just have to have a 7mm bullet, then the 7-08 will do it. The 7PRC doesn't start to become relevant until after 600 yards when compared to the Creed or 7-08 (based on an 1800 fps impact speed for the various bullets that work in each of those cartridges). If you are not going to take a shot at an animal that far then there is no need for that extra recoil and expense, IMHO.

This is rokslide so you're going to get answers that reflects the teachings and experiences by many here, which basically boils down to recoil bad, reliability good. The 7 prc with a leupold fails both of those objectives pretty badly. Whether it's what you want to hear or not the advice Id give for your situation is to sell the 7prc and leupold and buy a nightforce, s2h zerotech or maven rs 1.2, quality rings and a bunch of ammo for your 6.5. You'll be further ahead in quality, shootability, reliability and if you shoot all that practise ammo, you might actually become proficient to the distances you hope to be.

Recoil is really dependent on the shooter. Some don't have an issue with recoil for hunting conditions. Long range sessions is a different story. I shoot a 300 win mag and a 7 prc for hunting extended ranges and neither are an issue as far as recoil but I will be the first to admit at the range behind either with 25+ down the barrel you start to notice. I've always stated the best gun to use for hunting is the one you are most comfortable shooting accurately, as long as it is sufficient for the animal being hunted.

When I went to Africa hunting plains animals I planned on taking a 300 Weatherby Ultralight. I did load development for a very accurate load of 200 accubonds just under 3200fps. That gun kicked my ever living butt. I could shoot it and shoot it accurately but it took everything to concentrate on the shot and absorbing the recoil. I sold the gun off and used my 270WSM shooting 140 accubonds at 3200fps. I could handle that but after 30 plus rounds in the field for a few days I noticed a flinch taking hold. Lots of round on high recoil rifles eventually wear you down.

The Rokslide flavor of Kool Aid is changing. Go buy a gently used Maven RS1.2 off the classifieds. They’re now essentially worthless. Should be able to snag one in the $800-$1100 range. I wouldn’t pay a dime over $1000 though.

I wouldn’t put a Leupold on a 7 PRC. But an RS 1.2 fits on them well enough.
