Looking for some advice 129-6 tag Wyoming

I’m bringing my Dad up to Buffalo for a pronghorn hunt in unit 22 and we went ahead and put in for 129-6 tags for elk, we knew going into it that 129 is a ton of private land and I was hoping to see if someone on here could help point me in the right direction to find some access, I know we are late to the game but this has been a last second decision to get my Dad to be able to experience elk hunting. I’m not looking for specific spots, just hoping to get pointed in the right direction or get some advice, thank yall for all the help yall have already given me on this board.

Do your own research and come up with a hunt plan, then call the WGF biologist for that area and run your plan by them. If you show them that you have already put in the effort to make a plan, you are likely to get some helpful information. This has worked well for me when I am hunting a new unit.

Based on the harvest data for that tag, I would guess that a large percentage of the success in that unit is guided or on private land. That looks like it could be a pretty tough elk hunt.

For sure, I was planning on doing that, I was going to wait until I actually draw the tag before I called the biologist, it definitely seems like it’s going to be challenging with the amount of private land in that area but the moment I go up there without a tag I’ll see them all over the place. I’m sure I’ll pick up some good experience with it too, I’m planning on sending out letters to the landowners around some of the sections I’m looking at, it may be a long shot but I figure it’s worth a shot
