Looking for some feedback for those who’ve had hands on any or all of these rifles…

  1. Springfield Waypoint 2020 (w/ CF barrel)
  2. Bergara Premier Divide
  3. Bergara Premier MGLite
  4. Bergara Premier barreled action w/ a lightweight chassis
I’m looking to pick one up of these up in the next 3-6 months in 6.5PRC. The main intent is for a lightweight backcountry rifle with a secondary use as a long range toy. I know the Waypoint got a lot of good publicity and attention when it dropped, but that doesn’t always mean anything and I’m also seeing quite a few show up on the used shelves at the local Scheels. Bergara has a solid and established reputation, so one of those is probably the safe bet and between the Divide and the Waypoint the Divide would be a no brainer except aesthetically I like the Waypoint better. The MGLite is kinda a Blackhorse option that aesthetically appeals to me in completely different ways than either of the more traditional options.

Another option I’m looking at since I know there’s are concerns about carbon fiber accuracy and stringing as the barrels heat up is Bergara’s barreled actions… The no 4 profile is actually lighter than their CURE barreled action and the 5.5 is only slightly more than a pound heavier despite an extra 4 inches of barrel length. I wonder if it be worth considering just getting a barreled actions and dropping it into a lightweight chassis like the XLR magnesium Element for a bout the same cost? But since this is primarily meant to be a lightweight hunting rifle where the first cold bore shot is what really matters, I wonder if the hassle of going this route would be worth it?

Can anyone offer up so insight and/or hands on experience any of these rifles?

No comment on those rifles in particular, but if you can be patient, I recommend looking for a secondhand one in January to March 2026. The first three months of the year see a lot of people selling off rifles for one reason or another. A lot of guys I know basically rent a new hunting rifle every hunting season. I have picked up a number of lightly used rifles at that time of year.

PS - This is Rokslide: get a Tikka or Sauer 100.

Edit - the CF barrel is not worth it, in my opinion.

I have a waypoint in 6.5 creedmoor with the BSF barrel and have been impressed with it and really like it so far. It shoots 20 round groups right at a minute with my 147 eldm handloads. No complaints with it thus far.

I'd consider a seekins instead.
I’ve looked at a couple Seekins rifles including the PH3. I haven’t completely dismissed them, but there’s some intangible I can’t put my finger on that made me dislike them once I got to handle them… Feel free to tell me why I’m wrong and try to sell me on them.

From my experience, multiple Bergaras that weren't accurate and Seekins were so that's reason enough for me. I do like the weight, smooth action, barrel length of the element but I own the older version. The new models offer interchangeable barrel, shorter bolt throw, and adjustable cheek riser at the expense of added weight if that interests you.
