I'm looking for feedback from members on what they use for spotting scopes when hunting.

Our three most popular spotters for backpack hunters are the Kowa 55 mm, Kowa 77mm and the Swaro 65mm. There is a wealth of information here on rokslide! and if you'd like to give me a call, I'd be happy to go in depth on my experience hunting with these spotters and how they compare with others I have used.

I’ll be getting a Swaro ATX 95 soon. I may get the 65 to go with it in the future but probably not. A big reason for going with the 95 is for digiscoping while I’m hunting. Also, my hunts for the foreseeable future are with somebody so carrying the extra bulk can be shared.

65mm Athlon Ares has a following for those counting ounces and dollars. Good “mid range” option I’ve been fully satisfied with.

Use the search function. There’s a wealth of information here. After reading some post more what you are looking for (budget, use, etc)

Have you seen any reviews comparing this scope directly against others?

I had compared side by side with three other scopes. I think there’s another thread comparing to a Razor as well.

I use a Kowa 554. Great little spotter with amazing glass. FOV is a bit limited, but that is the compromise for the size/weight. Because of the weight, this thing is always in my pack.

Prior to this scope I used a Leupold Gold Ring HD 12-40. I really liked that spotter. The eye relief was fantastic so it was really easy to get behind. Good glass for the money.

Kowa TSN883 25-60x eyepiece. It is heavy and can be a PITA to haul with the tripod and pan head but the views are amazing. Most of my spotting is with binoculars and a tripod.

I just bought a Kowa TSN-553 from Doug at Cameraland. Great service and an awesome scope.

I am running a swaro STS HD 65mm with the 25-50x wide angle. It is awesome, super light and amazing optically.
