I have a Remington 700 short action that I’m looking to build a compact light weight building similar to a sig cross trax clone and looking for recommendations for a chassis that is similar that’s not breaking the bank
Thanks

May be hard to replicate the trax chassis. The new mdt lss gen 3 is supposedly able to stay light and they have lightweight folder options. Mdt or xlr makes light weight chassis with folders but are pricey.
I'm also planning to build on a lightweight chassis for a nrl hunter rifle. I'm eyeing the masterpiece arms ultralite right now but it may not my as sleek and light as your wanting.

Thanks for the response I really like the look of the trax with the full hand guard for a light weight barrel contour v/s the wide open forend made for a large contour barrel

I just built a rifle off of as MDT HNT26, the chassis is really nice and I’ve enjoyed it so far. The bridge over the barrel is good for mirage, the forend is sturdy and the lockup on the folder is super solid. Im curious to see if there’s any slippage on the ARCA shooting off of bipods/tripods but haven’t noticed any so far. They are not cheap though.

I’m looking at the HNT26 myself for a .300 win mag chassis build. I know Bergerac sells one, I think I can put one together at about the price, but ….

Another option, right at 15oz but it needs a grip and buttstock of choice.

I just did the same thing, for the same reason , and depending on their website or midway, you can get between 10-40% off, depending on sales. I got mine at midway, shipped, taxes, all of it for $208, great freaking deal, but I was patient, and so far I can build it how I want. I have a photo some where on here in a post, I put it on a 700 varmint 308, and wacked the barrel down to 16.5". Now shopping for a folder, different stock etc. It is like legos lol or ar's. Ultradyne I also shopped S2 they seemed like good guys as well. Only reason I went with the ultradyne is the discounts I got at midway to be honest. Being my first chassis, I didnt know if I would like it or not so I went the cheapest way I could.

I have been looking a the utradyne hd3 myself. thanks for the reply. this also will be my first chassis rifle i had a rem 700 in 6.5cm in the safle that i bought new for a good deal and a couple weeks ago i got to handle the sig cross trax and thought he id like to have one of those and their you go

I've done a little bit of a dive into looking at different options since you posted this. You could actually make a chassis somewhat similar to the sig. A chassis like the ultradine and their bridge, or the mdt lss and a bridge for that. Then get you a AR carbine to 1913 adapter and a folding stock from jmac or someone similar. And bam you got a sig chassis at home. May be a bit heavier but would look good and have the same form factor as the trax.

Check out the elf owl chassis, similar to what you're describing.
