WTB looking for a 28 gauge

I have been shooting 28ga as my main gun for about 10 years now. My favorite has been the Benelli Ultralight with a 26" barrel. Does everything and lightning quick for quail and doves, but long enough that it does well on ducks. I've tried just about every popular brand and make out there and here are some of my thoughts.

Browning Citori was good, but feels like a log compared to other guns. Just is not a trim and heavy. Great for clays, but not a great hunting IMO. The beretta 686 never fit me. I tried and tried to make it work, but in the end always had too high of a comb. Started shooting a Rizzini BR110 Light for the last year and love it. 5.3lbs with 28" barrels and fits me like a glove. The other 28ga over under that fits and shoot amazing are the SKBs make it japan. They are a little hard to find and heavy, but a joy to shoot.

IMO, stay away from the turkish semi autos. Some work OK for a while, some don't work much at all. The stevens/ savage 555 (turkish over/under) has been good for my kids. Not a fan of the CZs, they are heavy and typically do not have great balance.

just ordered a SBE 3 28 ga very exited for it I hunt a lot of woodcocks, grouse, quail and dove seems like the perfect round. Do you reload or just buy factory

Excellent choice. Those Benelli 28ga guns are great. I have several buddies with the SBE3 and they love them.

I reload most of my hunting loads and buy lead loads for target. I like 1oz of #8s for quail, and 1oz of #6s for grouse and chukars. I have never shot a woodcock, but I hunt snipes, but have to use no-tox. Steel #7s do a great job of them and no-tox doves as well.

The best thing about a 28ga, is you will be able to get on target much faster for your 2nd and 3rd shots. I just wish the benelli would come in a configuration with more than 3 shots for days where you don't need to limit it to 3 shells. Good luck hunting this fall.
