Longest Solo trip?

So what's the longest backpack hunt you guys have done solo?

I just finished an article for Bow&Arrow and it covered this subject and what a person should realistically expect from themselves.

Lets hear it...and no telling tales out of school!

Longest solo was 30 mile grizz hunt solo. Planning to do another this spring as well. However, ususally I have my loving bride in tow, which is more enjoyable than going solo usually.

Days, miles or both? Longest distance was around 10 miles but i try to keep it around 5. Have yet to stay more then 6 days and the first night i hear everything that goes bump in the night, you would think all the bears and lions had me trapped happens everytime and everytime i jist stick it out because after that it is easy.

2010 I was 9 miles in solo, NM Wilderness. I was set for two weeks of hunting.............and you know it, killed my bull two hours into the hunt!

This year I did 6 days solo and killed my buck 19 miles from my truck. Typically that is the length of my solo trips 5-10 days.

I'm going solo in Colorado this year for 12 days. I'll be out there august 22nd through sept 3rd. Hopefully I can get an elk down in that time!

Last year - 9 days and countless miles. It was a mental challenge for sure.

So for you guus going 15 - 30 miles in, how do uou take care of the meat? Horses? My reason for keeping my distance around 5 miles is packing out.

For me in Co its hard to find a wilderness area that you can go 15-30 miles before you hit another road. Most of my packs are 4-6 miles. This keeps most of the rif raf out!

5-7 days, I started out 3-4 days at a time with a trip to town or the truck and then back up for another 3-4 days. Cell phone calls home nightly (when possible) help with the wilderness fever. Also, I always write in my journal to help with that social loneliness we all go through. 3,4,5 miles in is typical for me in the back-country.

Longest solo trip time wise was a whole month, but I was (had to) able to place several caches for resupplying along the way. The longest time wise unassisted (no caches) was 14 days.

11 days. Could have been longer but my friend finished up early and met me at camp.

17 days and 25 pounds lighter! But my pack coming out was far heavier! Love it!

8 days and 14 miles in....Some of you guys have good vacation plans at work to stay away that long, along with an understanding wife and girlfriend.

Stone Sheep hunt, 12 days, BC, Canada, but many 4-10 day trips, self-sufficient and with no-resupplies. Distance: 2 days hike back to lake with ram. Not a light pack.

Never done a solo backpack hunt.....so now what? I'm not part of the cool kid club?


Guess for me there's some strong points to have a partner around and it doesn't just have to do with the mental side of having someone there.
