Longest Kill 6.5 Creedmoor

525 yards, mule deer, 143 eldx at 2725 fps mv, probably just over 2100 fps impact velocity. Mule deer was bedded, first shot you could just see him slightly roll back in bed on impact, it was subtle, stayed bedded, kept head up and acting normal, second shot 30-60 seconds later hit just behind shoulder, he stood up, hobbled couple steps and fell. Two impacts were about 3" apart. no exits

Yelp I was at 2930 with 24”
you guys are shooting faster than a PRC, is RL26 temp sensitive or why are ammunition companies not using powders that far exceed any others in their products? I mean why would every box ammo with 143 cm be 400 fps slower... how do they even sell it if it's that big of a difference? Makes me wonder what the capabilities of the 6.5 PRC are, I know several guys, myself included that are loading h1000 and pushing high 29xx, same as you guys but with a prc. Must be a powder that's able to push it to 3300 fps if you're able to push the 6.5 cm to high 29xx, right? seems crazy, sounds like several people agree they are getting those speeds, it just doesn't seem right given what I was saying....?

I had a broken in Tikka T3x 6.5 Creed a few years ago that hit 2900 with a 140 Sierra GameChanger over a load of Superformance. Barrel was the factory 24.3” It also was 85 degrees that day. I never hunted with that load. I elected to hunt with an H4350 load going 2700 FPS.

It’s the powder and it seems very temp sensitive as those reading where Texas Summer and had high ED. Winter it also shot tighter., but never rechecked velocity. I never had any pressure signs, with that said my barrel is fast and 24”. I’d have to go back and look at notes on load.

I ended up switching 130TMK And H4350 as it had lot lower SD/ED. And I like the bullet on game better

that makes sense, I load for 308 as well and see guys pushing some crazy speeds but with powders that are super temp sensitive. It didn't make sense to me to move to the faster powder because during hunting Temps there wasn't as big a difference, say 75 fps, but I'd rather have data that's been substantiated throughout the year. I wondered if that was the case with those zippin' hot creedmoor rounds too. It's common knowledge that the superformance gets roughly 200 fps extra over other powders but typically isn't as consistent or accurate.

Unknown Munitions has the 143 @ 3150 fps using 565 and factory Hornady Precision Hunter 143 ammo lists 2960 fps on the box so not necessarily faster than a PRC but close. The 6.5CM can be pushed harder with some powders but they aren't temperature stabilized.

Hornady balistic app shows ELDX at 2700 at the barrel (so close to where you are) but down under 2k at 525, think its really still going 2100 at that range?

Depends on the elevation. I run those numbers in my ballistic calculator and get 1973 fps @ sea level, 2033 fps @ 2500', 2090 fps @ 5000', and 2143 fps @ 7500'. As you can see, the bullet gained 170 fps at distance with the gain in elevation. This is why box values should be seen as suggestions not gospel.
