Can someone on here with more experience than myself please breakdown all the different longbow styles and their attributes? Hill, D, R/D, and others that I'm unaware of?

Great post on the ASL’s 👆🏻
A “D” bow usually refers to a Hill bow/ASL due to their shape when strung.

Outside of those: there are mild reflex/deflex bows, which have a little bit of that going on. Most of these string up into a D shape too.

The third category is a hybrid (or extreme R&D). Usually these are shorter and combine the good qualities of both the longbow and the recurve.

Yep some R/D longbows will have a D shape when strung up. All 6 of mine do. Personally I put longbows in 3 categories:

1. Straight Limb
2. Reflex/Deflex
3. Hybrid (heavy R/D)
Totally agree. Was just thinking for simplicity's sake that a R/D bow (when strung) is different from a D bow with some curve in the limbs - R/D/backset/etc...

Part of the fun is finding out what kind of bow you like to shoot!

So oldgoat, have you shot a San Marco,Harrison or Border ? ;)
Shot a couple of borders, wasn't impressed, don't think I've shot a San Marco, not sure about the Harrison, I live a few minutes away from rmsgear and have absolutely know idea what all I've shot, but it's a lot of them! Lot of them shoot pretty good but their grips suck to me!
