I've seen plenty of deer while vacationing at Edisto but nothing even close to that size!
I guess staying hidden is how a buck gets big.

It was a neck shot, and definitely not recommended.

At least you didn't damage the heart...Neck shots are my go to for does...I love heart steaks.

Yes, I got a nice heart and liver out of him, and no spoiled meat. Even got a good bit of neck meat.

He was hunched way down near the ground eating peanuts. Most of him was obstructed. Biggest sea island deer I've seen as well.
