I have loaned out a few things. My boat. My snowmobile and for some stupid reason my duck decoys. . My buddy that used the boat also used the snowmobile. Boat was fine. Beat the holy hell out of my snowmobile. I had a little cook box on my exhaust dude left a chunk of burnt pizza in there and broke part of the clasp to close it. Left beer cans in my seat compartment. Flew into my driveway had his buddy follow him jumped off mine and onto his buddy's sled. And rode away in the sunset. fuel empty. I still look for my duck decoys floating around the local ponds. The wife and I have an ongoing joke. Any duck or goose sitting on the water it's ... Hey honey. Maybe that's one of you're uhhhh. Nevermind. . Simple answer is not only no but hell no.

Depends on who wants to borrow what. If buddies ask to borrow something the answer might be different depending on who’s asking and what they’re asking to borrow

This. I have three friends who are welcome to anything I own. I also have friends and family I wouldn't loan anything of value to.

I have only had BAD experiences with loaning out equipment. I am very resistant to that idea now.

I can count on one hand the number of people I would loan a gun too. Other stuff I would be a little more lenient in loaning.
In this situation no way in hell I would loan a gun to these people.

Depends on the person. Some, absolutely not. They will not return it in the same or better condition than when they left with it. Others, yes. If they break it, they'll make it right with you.

“Neither a borrower nor a lender be; / For loan oft loses both itself and friend.” The Bard.

I lent a rifle to a guy from work. It came back with a deep 3" gouge on the bottom of the fore end of the stock. I asked what happened, and he said he rested it on a rock to shoot his elk. No offer to fix, replace, or even any "oops sorry".

I have a synthetic stocked cheap Savage that now is the loaner rifle. I got it on part of a trade and don't care if it is used to paddle a boat or shovel a latrine. Being in Colorado now though, even a loan of a rifle has to go through an FFL, so it's basically a non-issue.

The better half lent her boat to her brother and dad. It came back with a busted lower unit, ladder, and was cocked so badly onto the trailer that I had to take it back to the lake to make it road safe to pull. She said "but they are family", to which I replied, "they are family with no boat that just cost you about 3 grand.

I have come to subscribe to the adage that if you lend a person money and you never see them again, it was worth it. I don't lend anything I can't afford to lose.

Geez after reading more of these I have to ask...What kind of people do you guys hang around with? AND do some of you have zero awareness of people in general?

Depends on how good a friend. My buddy just had a super bowl tag here in WY. Late season tag.

I let him borrow my Mavens, sleeping bag, tripod and a pistol. I wouldn't give the gear out on loan to just anyone, but I trust this guy with my stuff.

I loaned a buddy my slug gun one year.
I had to ask for it back a couple of weeks after season.
He said it was put up in his gun cabinet and he would get it back to me.
When I did get it back it had rust on the receiver and barrel
I don't loan anything anymore

Guy I knew borrowed my bow to do some shooting, his bow was in another state. Sure, Handed him the bow and thought nothing of it. Got it back for hunting season and went - the bow had a terrible squeal to it when being drawn (I'm deaf and never knew until I had an opportunity at a deer get blown by the noise - all I knew was that this doe at 15 yards with her head behind a bush turned inside out getting outta there). It been left out in the weather and during the summer it basically rains every day down here.

Same guy wanted to borrow my crossbow. I said no. Haven't heard from him since. Been about 10 years so far.

I help out friends and neighbors whenever I can but loaning out one of my guns is not going to happen.
