Living in Idaho Recommendations

I was just looking at land for sale in Idaho as a future retirement locale. Seems like the entire state is for sale. Idaho is definitely taking advantage of people's desire to move there.

They are also taking advantage of the real estate inflation....look at prices from just a few years ago. The house I bought in 2017 is creeping toward doubling in value and I don't even live in Boise. Too bad salaries are not following suit. Times are tough for locals needing to buy.

Why would anyone do that kind of video if you plan on buying here?I just had his new video pop up on you tube.

He says they are having second thoughts , snow, cold, overcast with no sun, welcome to North Idaho I don't know how to post it here . it is kinda funny to watch

Well I shouldn't complain too much about the people movin in, as I'm a carpenter and they provide a ton of work, buts its getting crazy around here! Grew up in the panhandle and just moved to SE ID last fall. As some have said on here, Idaho has a lot of different country and climate!

Speaking of Californians, my Mom told me a good one the other day! She doing some Christmas shopping and overhead a conversation between 2 women who moved to north ID from CA. One was telling the other," The only problems with this place is how conservative everyone is! Everyone hunts and theres a lot of farmers!" Thats a problem??? My parents and brothers farm and we all hunt. Mom just kept her mouth shut and didn't say anything

Did it for you. This kinda pleases me though. I hope that 9 out of 10 Californians have the same attitude after one “harsh” winter and move to Texas, or better yet, back to CA.

She should have said “sounds like you two would love CA” as she walked past.

The politics does play a significant role in the move. I moved from Chicago to Arizona to get away from the nonsensical politics. Now California and NY dems have completely overrun the state and brought their BS with them. It's a sad state of affairs, but give me a couple hundred acres somewhere and you won't here from me again. Except to buy Budweiser and diesel- still need that.

Should the Boise area be avoided? I would be lying if I said I wasn't tempted to move to Idaho. My wife is from Nevada, and the mountains of Northern Nevada would be tempting as well. I am curious as to how the hunting compares between the two states?

That's when you need to speak up. Too much complacency will lead to further degradation of your Idaho.

That’s the problem with people moving to places like Idaho and Eastern Washington from places like California, New York and most liberal run states. Those people need to remember why they leaving. I shouldn’t even say “liberal” I have a lot of friends that are “liberal” it more along the line of socialist way of thinking

What people do not understand, many leaving CA aren't leaving due to politics. Many leave for cheaper housing, "mountain living," and less density. They're still anti-everything liberals. That is why you Idahoans need to "correct" those ideals quick, fast, and in a hurry.

Moved to this area in 1980 the pops lives on Pend Oreille outside of Sandpoint and grew up with Pat Mcnanus. Back then you could drive from Sandpoint to Spokane in an hour one traffic light. Man how times change he hates it but his view is incredible....for me yes cda post falls Sandpoint crazy, but the mountains, wolves, fog, weather, and jungle brush keep people near roads or home....I still see very few back in and fewer now than decades ago......so I don’t fret it and move on it is beyond my control🤙 I have tags for 2021 and a new tent on the way👍good luck in 2021 and hopefully I get to hang up a wolf or 2...happy new year!

I have hunted as a non resident in Idaho for 25 plus years. I know where I would be going if living there full time.
Definitely in the pan handle where I found a community I liked and a home I could afford.

All I can say is your Mom is nicer than me.

I was blessed to be able to negotiate with the seller prior to listing their house , it saved us at least 60k and the hassle of out of state bidding war driving the price up. they weren't greedy and we were fair with our offer.
