I am in the market for a floorless shelter and need some LBO questions answered. I am mainly interested in using the setup for either two guys, gear and a stove or possibly 3 guys, gear and a stove. I am primarily looking at getting a base, tarp and a vestibule.

1.) Can you do a base-tarp-vestibule setup (3 guys, gear and a stove)? I only see a base-tarp-base setup on their website. It doesn't look like the base-base setup is possible when removing the tarp for 2 guys, gear and a stove.

2.) Is the base-vestibule setup big enough for 2 guys, gear and a stove? How many doors does this setup have?

3.) Is the base-tarp setup open-ended or can you have that setup enclosed?

Thanks.

I have a base-tarp-base and a 3 piece vestibule set to arrive this Friday. I will play with each set up over the weekend and let you know on Monday.

I was gifted the T-B-T for Christmas and called Seekoutsde to add some seam sealer and the trekking pole extensions and was talked into buying the vestibule as well. The saleswoman said the set up with just the 2 bases was a bit awkward and I would probably prefer the Base+vest set up with is light and nearly the same size for a smaller configuration. I failed to ask about the Base-Tarp-Vestibule set up but it seems like it would be pretty sweet. I don't know if the zipper on tarp-vest interface would be weatherproof.

I'm interested in this set up too.

I don't think so. 2 friendly guys and some gear is probably the max.

It would be open ended

Its a small shelter,if you want to be 3 youll have to use Base+tarp+base.

Doable 2 with some gear+stove but it will be tight.

I bought the base+3p vestibule for solo +stove and 2 guys no stove for summer fishing trips.

1: Zipping the tarp to the vestibule would leave a gap at the top where the two join. Thus not recommended.
2: Yes, depending on how much stuff you have and how much personal space you require.
3: Open ended. It is possible to manipulate the tarp opening to make it more or less open as conditions dictate.

I was going to comment on the vestibule tarp connection as well, it's not so much a gap as it is not having a storm shield flap to cover the zipper.

I have two bases, tarp with stove jack, and a two piece vestibule. It would be super tight with three in the base/vestibule combo I wouldn't want to be that crammed and you would have to place for gear.

My favorite setup is actually the base/tarp and leaving nothing on the end. When the wind shifts you can always lower the tarp down to be like a vestibule.

Most of the time I like to run just the base. I use it as a wind break to keep the thermals off me at night. I prefer sleeping under the stars if weather permits though.

I have the lbo w/3 piece vestibule then later purchased a tarp.
I use the base tarp and 3 piece vestibule with my two large teen boys, all our gear, and an 18" Smith cylinder stove. It can be done, works well (as long as no one's a slob), you just won't have a lot of walking around room.
We've used the setup without the vestibule when the weather's nice or consistently blowing in one direction... but would really get cramped quick if you have to drop the side down.

LBO w/3 piece would be really tight for two guys & stove let alone their gear. It fits have two openings.

I am just looking at the different LBO combo's that give you the most options. If you buy the base-tarp-base, then you obviously have that option. You can then either do the base-only option or do a base-tarp option for open-ended camping. I guess you can do the base-base option if you need your shelter enclosed? I thought that I contacted the company and they said the two bases don't zip together real well, so I don't know if that is an option. This is why I was thinking of doing the base-tarp-vestibule option. I just didn't know if the tarp zips into the vestibule real well. mlob1one says that you can do it, but LandYacht and DaveC says that it doesn't work real well. I guess I need to continue to look into it. My other option is to go with the Cimarron and then I will have room for 3 guys and gear and a stove, when needed.

There is about 1.5" of extra zipper off the tarp because the vestibule isn't as long. Additionally the height of the vestibule is a few inches shorter than the base, but that has never been an issue for me.
I like this setup because it does offer the most options, without buying an additional base. I'll try and load up some pics of our hunt camps with them and let you make the call.

Base base is just fine, but too big for just me.

The vestibule will zip to the tarp perfectly fine, but if it rains you are going to be leaking water along the zipper since there is no storm flap.

I used to run base base the first year I had it. It was by accident that I discovered the base tarp combo.
