15 from this thread: Moxie, not moxy. Men's, not mens. Lose, not loose (personal peeve) . Among, not amongst. Country, not county. Seriously, not seriousely. Their, not thier. Stutter, not studder. Laziness, not lazyness. Can't, not cant. Everything, not eveything. Their, not there. Willie, not Willy. Suits, not suites. Queen's English, not queens English.

A bonus one, seen often on Craigslist: Barely, not barley. If you have proofread or edited, the internet is a target-rich environment. And you can't not see it. As above, most are typos. I had several of those in this post, at first. Actually totally easy to like do, bra. Feel me?

Not to sound like the young 25 year old I am, but things change, society evolves. This has been going on for years. Who the hell would dance the jitterbug? Why would you buy a TV? They could start a fire! I will admit, it is really annoying, but we all pick up words and say them a lot without realizing we do. I say man a lot, don't know where or how I picked it up, but I do. I will say this, your life is going to be really miserable if something as small as how many times someone says "like" bothers you enough to come to Rokslide and post a thread about it.

And not to be a D Bag but for as much as people are ragging on others for words and grammar. Well, the grammar in this thread has been horrible.

This just another catch phrase.....another way of dressing.....another generation coming into their own place
Growing up in the 70’s and 80’s makes all these kids weird to me too but then looking at old pics or watching a movie from back then seems kinda weird too
The 70’s had some great bands and the 80’s were full of “one hit wonders” that nobody remembers
The music today isn’t appealing at all to me and I can’t understand most of it but then most of the music I like isn’t appealing to kids today

It's all in play with the degradation of America. I go back a fairly long now and I have never seen anything like what is going on today, not only with the youth but all of society in general. I put the entire blame on social media. Nobody is held accountable for what they post on any of those sites. People post complete lies and fabrication and nobody question them, they just blindly accept it as fact. I said I put the blame on social media, well, add mainstream media to that.

I know in MN it is just part of the language to end sentences in "so" or "yeah" or "no" or "ya know" like eh! in Canada.

I think the problem is when it transforms over to formal/public speaking. And that is where the podcasts.shows you are listening to are on the boarder. They are mostly centered around the hosts business or identity but are meant to be a formal way to informally connect with people or feel like natural conversations.

But I agree there are times when repetitive use of words gets me a bit worked up. However, I try not to be the grammar police as that is almost more annoying.

Just don't form the sentence "I seen 3 deer on the way home from work today" around my English Major teacher wife. I mean I do on purpose, but no one else should.

In my humble opinion it's because nobody reads literature or actual paper paged books anymore. If you are well read you notice poor grammar immediately. Either written or spoken. Everything is a short cut now or the fastest way you can possibly communicate with the least amount of actual words. There you've all been pwned.-WW

Like, it's Shaggy's fault, like it really is, like he started it.

I'm in this class right now for my job. Most of the people are 10+ years younger than I. I'm so sick and tired of them saying "like, like, like." Sick of the word!
