Lightweight Tikka Action?

@Ryan Avery

I have a call into UM, just waiting for the call back….figure some others may have similar questions so will double tap here.

1) for pricing, many bolts are factory fluted. Is there a cost for action cuts and full nitride without the bolt fluting?

2) for those actions with factory cerakote (veil, wildland, etc) can you nitride those still?

Thank you.

Looks nice and clean but it forces you to use their tikka rings to clamp to the side of the action. There is only one threaded front hole. All scope rings require two threaded holes to mount on the top of the action. Just be aware of this in advance.

There are more options for dovetail rings than just UM. But I’m not sure why someone would choose anything other than a dovetail ring for a tikka anyways.

If not using UM or Sportsmatch, I’d be going rail anyway. I haven’t had any good experiences with direct mounts yet on the Tikka using the top screws.

Or run a rail.

Maybe some one dont like the looks of dove tail clamp on style, there is no weight difference. UM tikka rings weigh the same as a rail and hawkins rings. Built hundreds and never had one move. Like I said action looks good and clean but if some one was going to put some hybrids or two piece talley’s on top its not going to work.

How much of the weight reduction is removing the top of the rail vs just the side pockets?

Isn’t one of the benefits of Tikkas that it’s a more closed system with less space for debris to enter the action?
