Hey what are everyones thoughts on a good lightweight rifle for bear/deer/possibly elk?

I buddy recommended the Savage 110 ultralight elite.. and I noticed the Bergara MgMicro as maybe also a good option. I def would want a folding stock too, I think they both offer that? Heard Fierce reapers also high quality and light?

Caliber I'm assuming 6.5 PRC or 7 prc or..? Just dont want too much recoil to enjoy shooting it also at range..

not sure if they both offer in that or not.

Any suggestions or advice please let me know!

looking to buy first rifle and want that lightweight portability with it.

thanks!

How far will you be shooting and what? If less than 500 yards a 6 Creedmoor or a 6.5 Creedmoor are ideal, IMO for shootability and ballistics. They kill very good. Shoot better at the range too.

The Savage ultralight are fantastic for the money. They are harder to shoot without a brake or suppressor. I don’t like them at all bare. Buddy has a 280 ai another has the 6.5 prc. 280 has killed elk out to 630.

Other rifles are an improvement.

Tikka is a very solid choice, especially if you wait for the 6cm. But any caliber you want will work.

For weight, the Howa Superlite is a feather.

I'd read the 223 for everything thread and then check out the how light a kimber hunter can be thread, or if you want really light, look at the ULUL rifle thread. My elk killer is now 4 pounds scoped and suppressed and I built it without the help ($$$$$$) of a gunsmith.
