Lightweight bipod options

So the current mdt backcountry is defective?

I like the idea of using a bag on the pack. It after having a bipod last year it was handy just as a way to set the rifle down out of the moon dust.

Yeah I ran into this in AZ last year. Nothing is soft so without a bipod you scratch the piss out of your gun and/or make a ton of noise setting it down

What parts and how light? Iv got a triple pull on the shelf that needs something or it will continue to not get used
It’s about 17oz. Taller than a triple pull. Slightly slower to extend the legs. Faster to collapse the legs. Quieter to extend the legs.

What about the rugged outdoors?

Kid won't shoot without tripod. Maybe getting her a bipod and some range time could help save some weight.

I had a gen I rugged ridge bipod. It was light, but I didn't care for the ball head. I don't like bipods that have the pan feature.

MDT mountain

So have maybe 50-60rds shot off this thing so far and I like it.

Sold a gunwerks, legs froze up on me last year in the middle of trying to build a position to shoot, Kinda lame. Also I like arca, I don’t like running pic on my arca and my bipod being stuck in one spot.

How do you think the MDT Mountain Bipod will hold up under a heavy rifle (~15 lbs)? I have a Seekins Havak Hit that I'd like to shoot NRL with, but I need to cut weight wherever I can because the rifle itself is quite heavy.

I'd not be chasing the lightest of choices for a very important piece of the system. A 5oz bipod is going to be fragile, and always a possible break point. Cut weight from the primary rifle system, the add in a proven reliable bipod.

Other option, train hard with the rifle using the Uber light piece, run it find the weak links, fix them as you find them. Don't let unproven gear bone you mid competition. My thoughts are tho, he's likely better off going to a carbon barrel on the HIT(or lighter rig all together) and using a better bipod.

Uh I have a HIT and also I shoot NRL hunter with, I think it would be ok. I mean my PRC is like 10lb 5oz and it’s more than fine. Would it be ideal ehhhh I’d lose some weight and run something else just for stability sake.

I went and had a carbon barrel spun up for this past season. And next year I’ll be doing a fluted steel. I met a guy at ID match that had a factory seekins barrel fluted and he was running a nx8 4-32 I believe, with an atlas cal, and suppressor and made weight. Kampfield did a heavy spiral flute.

2 years ago I ran the factory steel barrel, a SRS ti 5 port, a nx8 4-32 and a warne skyline lite.

Just some ideas. PM if you have any questions
