Lightweight bipod options

This was my thought process behind getting both the mtn bipod and aziak frontcountry tripod. But with a scrawny 9 year old hunting this year I thought the adjustability of the r3d legs and a sturdier tripod may come in handy.
What's the thickest leg diameter on the front country? 28mm? It's looks like what a leofoto 283L would be if they made one.

The mountain is so light I’m having to re consider how I’m building my rifles when it comes to balance. It’s super impressive if light weight is a priority. I’m somewhat impressed so far but I reallly won’t know till I get a season on it if it’s the one or not.

If your buying the mountain I’d immediately order new feet.

I got these. Only 40-50 shots in but seem pretty good. They are 3d printed so “rubber” is maybe a bit of a misnomer

I got the anarchy outdoor felt feet and really like them too. Not too sticky.

The factory feet are terrible. But I do despise spiked feet.

No matter which you choose I feel there are trade offs. Lightweight and leave it on your rifle means its probably short. If its tall enough to use while sitting it better be quick to get on and off. If it does both its probably made of unobtainium and nobody can afford it.

Don't ever want spiked feet! I swapped out all the feet I can from metal spiked to rubber knobs. Anything that holds a rifle rigid that's not perfectly balanced and perfectly aligned to the target and the weapon, has the ability to influence the trajectory in a detrimental way. That's why Form is anti bipod.

If the Gunwerks was like 3" overall higher, it'd be adequately light, and be able for most to shoot seated to slight upward angles, or extreme angles prone.

I typically run an ATLAS PSR with leg extensions but I picked up a Tricer RP recently. I ran the tricer in an NRL type match and worked very well.

I have a standard double pull ckyepod. Going to see what I can do. The fat trimmer is just the knob? Who makes this?

Fat trimmer isn't worth the money if you're not worried about 1oz. It does Streamline and eliminate pan, which I what I really wanted.

RRS BTC pro clamp atop the fat trimmer is the lightest clamp I've found that's arca and Pic compatible.

Makes sense... I will check it out

This is 100% on @Untamed

I put the fat trimmer on my ultralite double pull ckye just to get rid of the pan. I didnt even weight it as I'm sure I saved 0 ounces.

IMO the RRS BTS pro clamps are the best since they work on arca and pic. They also work on pic that might be a little off spec when you have multiple guns with pic rails that are different brands.

This was a lightweight double pull, installed fat trimmer, rrs BTC pro clamp, R3d carbon legs, and rubber atlas feet. Just a few short and curlys under 18oz. 3oz lighter than original state with WAY more height now. I like it, it's very stable.

I installed this kit not too long ago. I have the plugs in for now and it is really nice not 1/2 deploying legs.
The over size knobs really add to the positivity of the deployment.

I have these crosstac knobs on my single pull that I use for prs, but the ones you posted are def much lighter.

For those who care I ended up ordering the mdt backcountry tripod. I’m not sure I’ll like the panning but I couldn’t bring myself to spend the extra on the mountain version. Now I’ll hurry and wait…. I ordered from optics planet because they said they had them in stock (I knew better) and it says it won’t ship until 8/22
i have the backcountry also. i mounted it and had it sitting on a table in the half way position. i was on the phone and and working the bolt with one hand. after a few strokes on the bolt the left leg collapsed. i repeated that a few times with the same result. mdt sent me a new one and it does the same thing. curious as to how yours is functioning?

I started with a Spartan Pro Hunt Tac and now run the Tricer RP. Both about $350, but the Tricer RP can shoot kneeling and sitting. I shot a buck last weekend sitting, the Spartan would not have done that.

Before I get to far down this rabbit hole... What is the lowest height you get with the R3D legs splayed out to the last setting? Website just says 12" and 40"

For me this kit is a must have. Totally worth the very slight weight penalty.
