Looking for opinions on lightweight 6.5 creedmore builds, actions or barrel actions.
Mainly used for NRLH, currently shooting a right hand rifle and doing okay but would eventually like to invest in dedicated LH build.

Budget?

For the cost of a custom barreled action you can put together a Tikka in a chassis for better mags. If you run in factory a Tikka would make it simple. That is what I am thinking about doing. The Tikka action is the smoothest factory action, and the trigger can be turned down enough to make it perfect.

The new UM Raven action would be a solid choice for custom Tikka platform.

For a custom barreled action, you can screw together almost exactly what you want with prefit barrels. Many of the custom action makers do a left handed version. Other than the Raven. I think the REM 700 is the only platform worth building off of.

Savage would be another choice, their barrels shoot better more often IMO than lots of others. But, if you can afford a Savage, save up and get a Tikka.

I have a factory left hand tikka 6.5 creed that shoots so good with factory ammo that I haven’t tried anything else in it. The barrel was shortened and I dremelled out the stock to float it more, added the vertical grip and adjusted the factory trigger. Shoots better than my other 2 custom barrels.
This is with factory 143 eldx at 100 yds ( the outer ring hit was just after getting on target and the rest were after adjusting )

This is why I can’t see going with anything but a Tikka unless you just want some other features. They just shoot.

But, will Tikka ever produce more Left handed rifles? It seems like nothing hit inventory anywhere for 2026.

I see them come into my distributors slowly. But, they do go fast.

In 6.5 creed I can get a CTR with 20” barrel, and Veil with 20 and 24” barrels right now.

Budget is a big factor, but heres my 2 cents.
Not only do Tikka's go fast but you also get charged the Lefty Tax these days. All the right hand peeps are like I bought my tikka for $725-$750! Meanwhile us poor south paw shooters are like I can't find a gun 😭 or now are paying $1000+ for a Tikka.
I really wanted a lefty t3x in 223 last year. Was going to waitlist for one until I stumbled upon a New Kelbly Atlas light for $600 and a take off Bergara HMR stock with bottom metal for $100 and then I traded a barrel blank I had for a 223 barrel blank. Moral of the story, Buy a Tikka if you can get one at the price you like, or just bite the bullet and build on a good R700 clone, chances are high you can get good components cheap if you are patient.

This is true, you can buy used parts and put together a really good rifle.

Right now, I can get these, limited stock, MSRP is:
$909 for a lefty blued
$1179 for a lefty roughtech
$1229 for a lefty blued CTR

6mm Creedmoor is coming soon -- in case you're looking at NRL Factory.
If you reload, the .243 8 twist is a current option.

I imagine it will at some point, but, unless you have super secret information I would not wait for that reason. I do think it will happen, but when??? I was in the Tikka booth at SHOT 2025 and was told it was happening last year.

Maybe a dumb question, but do you have other lefties that you shoot regularly? How confident are you that you can shoot a lefty setup better than what you currently run?

I say this as a right hand/left eye dominant shooter that has grown up shooting right hand guns left-handed and about a year ago got my first pure lefty in a Bergara B14. I might as well be on mars manipulating that thing compared to what I'm used to.

I just wish they made left handed t3x blued. I dont mind paying for stainless but refuse to pay for the veil and roughtech stuff.

I did buy the Roughtech 6.5 cm in LH and it’s a good shooting gun. I enjoy shooting it so much, having OMR build one in a 280AI. If you’re not wanting a rough tech, I definitely would look at OMR. I actually talked to the owner to walk me through the order process. For their price it’s right on par for collecting all the parts and spinning the barrel on yourself. Good luck. Slowly switching over the left hand.
