Light weight magnum rifle

I’ve done zero tinkering to any of mine and have no issues shooting them out to 500yds which is as far as I bother practicing. Too each their own, I don’t care what people use anymore. I’m just hoping to find some kimbers that “won’t shoot”for a good price on the classified ads.

Good luck. Stories about Kimbers not shooting are not hard to find, but for some reason, those guns never come up for sale.

No problems and I’ve had 2 of my 3 kimbers for ~ 5 years and my 8400 for almost a year. Like I said, zero issues. I’d buy another Kimber without hesitating, I go from my own experiences rather than the internet stories.

I also know several people with kimbers of all sorts and they are all happy with them. Again, real life experience vs. the internet.

I’m looking for a light weight magnum rifle that shoots well. I’m not opposed to custom at all.
My main reason for counting pounds is i have a jacked up spine. I feel a huge difference in my back toting my .308 vs my current .300 win mag. My .308 is 8 lbs. my magnum is 13 lbs. This gun would be for moose, bear, sheep and elk.
I think I want to go with a .30 nosler if available
My goal is sub 8lbs with ammo
Non custom rifles I’m looking at are-
browning x bolt hells canyon.
nosler rifles
bergara mountain rifle
savage ultra light
As for custom-
I don’t even know where to start. Gunwerks has a big name

Whatever you decide to get, secure all your brass and components ,enough to shoot out a barrel anyway. One plus to 30 nosler is you can actually find ADG brass right now if you hurry! 300 win and prc disappear super fast. Top end brass is worth it.
I have a carbon 24" 300 prc ,built by Alamo precision. 9 pounds 4 oz with a Bushnell LRTSi scope, seekins 20 moa rail and rings. BDL bottom metal. It's a teddy bear shooting 215 Bergers at 2930 with a MBM Beast ti brake. Daughter killed couple bucks with it too. Not as light as they come but it works. AG composites alpine hunter stock is big and comfy for me but still not really heavy.
Seekins rifle are worth a look.

My .300wsm weighs just under 6lbs. 2ozs. all up, is very accurate (although I haven’t killed anything with it beyond about 300 yards, not into “long range hunting”), and with the brake, it’s not at all uncomfortable to shoot. As a testament to its manageable recoil, my son killed his first deer and mountain goat with it when he was 12 years old and weighed about 85 lbs….yeah, he was a little guy for sure.

I love kimbers. Here my 300 win mag. Not as light as yours but not too heavy at all. Shoots great.

9lb Christensen Arms Mesa 300 WM, I feel like it needs a diet compared to these guns! Haha

It’s a good weight for me. I’m a big guy, 9lb rifle doesn’t bother me one bit, recoil is manageable as well.

Just need to find one that somebody dosent want. That 300 win mag mountain ascent cost me 1100.00 here on rokslide. I’ve seen them sell for 2400.00 on gunbroker.

Shoulder busting MTN rifle

I have been hunting with a 13lb setup for 3 consecutive years, and I wanted to build something much lighter. In conclusion I ordered a Bergara premier mountain 2.0 chambered in 300 Winchester Magnum. I'll post final weights and setup pictures to that thread after all the items have arrived from shipping. I expect the build to be about 8.75lbs or less with scope, magazine, tall bipod attached and no cartridges in the gun.

I bought a .300win in a Franchi momentum . Pretty light and shoots good for me. Comes with a break. Not bad for 800 bucks these days.

My 300wsm x-bolt micro hunter shoots well and is 6 pounds 7 ounces bare. 22 inch barrel and 13 3/8 lop.

My Kimber .308 and 300WSM shoot MOA and I’ve done nothing to them but kill stuff and enjoy them.
