Hey guys, wanting to purchase a decent light weight fluid head for my carbon tripod. It’s not in the budget right now for an outdoorsman, so what are you guys using? Thanks!

I've been using the promaster SPCH20 for a while. Really liking it so far. call cameraland for the best deal on it.

Others will recommend the surui VA5 but I have no experience with it

I’ve been using a ball head lately. I find myself positioning the binos then using the FOV. I move the binos again and scan the FOV. No motion sensitivity when panning while lookin. A ball head with a panner would be a great way to go.

RRS has a very inexpensive ball head with a panner that would be awesome. Made in USA 🇺🇸

Yeah ur not finding a better head than the VA-5 anywhere near that price.. it’s not exactly super light weight., but I sold both my outdoorsman pistol grip/panner and micro head in favor of the VA-5..it’s better by a Landslide

I have been using the Manfrotto 391RC2. I have 4 of them that I use. They have worked very well for me. I have the mounting plates on my camera and spotting scope. Small and lightweight. I just picked another one off Ebay for $50 that was brand new.
