I am looking for a jacket that's light and packable. Something half way between my Peloton 97 and Super Down Pro.

Would love to stay in the 8oz range:
Kuiu snap shirt?
Outdoor vitals ventus?
Enlightened Equipment Torrid Apex?

I use my hooded peloton 200 a heck of a lot and it is nice and packable and pretty light. A little heavier than 8oz though. More substantial and durable than the 97. Warmer by a bit but not much but I do think m it cuts the wind better than the 97 as well.

What role do you intend it to play? Mid layer, outer layer, active, static?

Static - MH ghost whisperer or decathlon 100 (decathlon is over 8 oz)

Active (if you have a wind shirt) - naked primaloft evolve, Eddie Bauer or backcountry

I don’t have the Ventus, but based on the specs it seems pretty light on the insulation. Torrid apex is probably your best best if you want a static piece.

Static as an outer 2/3 of the time.

That 97 works great for active in all but the worst conditions. The Super Down is too much many times, sometimes even when static.

I'll check out some of the ones you suggested.

Got it, for static insulation at 8 ounces, you'd probably be looking at an ultralight down like the mountain hardwear ghost whisperer or some of the cottage-type ones.

I love my 200. I've worn it more than anything and it's made almost every hunt for 8 years. The 97 is lighter and nearly as warm but the 200 is better all around I'd say.

That weight range is tough to really gain much.

I go Sitka 120 merino, Kuiu 97 and then Sitka ambient a lot. It's an awesome warm, light active system.

I really like the KUIU snap shirt. So much I have 3 of them.
One solid that is my original, found myself wearing it for everything around the house, shooting, running to town, riding our horses, etc. so I bought a spare before it changes, and I find it blocks wind well, breathes well and just seems to be the right weight when I need a jacket so I got one in camo as well. I envision it in the hybrid role when a 97 isn’t enough either static or moving and under a shell or axis when super cold or nasty.
More late season for me but what you describe is what I use mine for daily.

Thanks. Sometimes the 97 is just enough of a hassle to take on and off that I don't like doing it. For whatever reason it twists the sleeves on my base layer and I have to take my harness on and off.

I pulled the trigger on the HiCamp Shacket. 7.7oz for medium, I'm XL. There was one missing a couple buttons on ebay for $25 shipped. I figure its worth a shot. That snap shirt will probably make it's way in my collection at some point.
