Don't have any pictures to post but I love using my 30-30 and 35 Remington hunting hogs here in Texas. Hogs don't like the 30-30 much but they absolutely hate the 35 Rem!!

Not many Winchester 1895s on this thread, so here's my contribution. I got this one in the mid '90s when they came out with a new batch and have used it on a few antelope and deer. If I ever draw a ND elk tag, I'm going to hunt with a replica of Theodore Roosevelt's favorite rifle (in 30-06, rather than 405 Win) in his western ND stompin' grounds.

So cool. For one of my next hunting trips abroad I think I’m going to acquire an 1895 in 405 just to larp as Teddy. How do you like it in 30-06?

It's great. Plenty accurate and seems to kick less than my M70 in 3006. My furthest shot was 300+ yards on a deer.

I have a 1980 Win. Model 94, 30-30 that I’m dying to get blood on.
I have a really accurate load of the Hornady ftx bullet with Leverevolution powder.
It truly does make it a 200 yard rifle.
I’ve changed to a barrel mounted Skinner peep sight from the Williams shown in the picture.
Just getting real itchy to get into the woods this fall!

Hi all, first post I recently found this site. JM Marlin 45 70, 400 gr cast bullet at 1765 fps. Wheel weight alloy hand load for the bull elk. Took 2 mule deer bucks and a cow elk with this set up. Four horn ram, doe antelope, black bear, mule deer buck and two hogs 300 gr Barnes X bullet at 2020 fps. Cast bullets make nice holes. John

When I was in the 6th grade my older brother used to take me to a valley low on predators and flush with ground squirrels. The wardens used to encourage plinkers to thin them out.

We would take our .22LRs, find a shady spot to set up prone on our day packs and start glassing the perforated hillsides. At the end of the day, a score of 15 - 10 wasn't uncommon.

One such weekend I opened my Dad's closet to get my Marlin semi auto 22LR and the stock was broke in half at the grip. To this day no one knows what happened to it. Instead of cancelling the trip, my brother said "take this instead" and handed me my Father's Marlin 336RC 30/30.

For the first half of the morning I missed everything. By the end of the day the score was 11 - 0. After the squirrels quit coming out of their holes, my olderbrother set up some targets and we sighted in the 1950s 336.

On the hike out of the valley a qround squirrel jumped up on a fallen log at about 15 yards away. My older brother told me to "smoke 'em". A round was already chambered and the hanmer was on 1/4 cock. I threw up the 'ol 30/30, looked down the sights, pulled the hammer the rest of the way back and touched one off.

The squirrel must have turned just as or before I fired because when my brother held it up... the tail and hind legs were protruding from the squirrel's mouth.

For the rest of that summer I took rabbits, coyotes, and head shot tree squirrels with that 1950's Marlin 336RC 30/30 Lever Action Carbine.

Still have her and thanks to this thread, it's time to let her ride again!
