Leupold what’s up

So my back country rifle has a vari x 3 4-14i it’s one of the newer leupolds well long story short it went bad. I sent it back and all that good stuff but now I’m concerned about if I should upgrade. Here’s the kicker I don’t want to put a big heavy scope on this rifle and that’s why I put this leupold on it in the first place. What would your next move be.

What cartridge and what is your planned usage ?

Wouldn’t hold a zero. Double checked the rifle with my 12-42 nxs. I’m not bashing leupold it happens and esp on that rifle that gets used pretty hard.

It’s a 30 cal magnum. I want to be able to shoot to 600.

Look at some of the Trijicons…maybe 3-9

This is true but very durable and reliable. You save some weight on a light weight rifle and that can be used for the reliability of the Nightforce. I have some Leupold and Swarovski scopes on some setups but when I need to 100% trust a setup, I went with the Nightforce

I have a Z3. It’s set up for whit tail hunting. I don’t do any dialing with it. It’s a set and forget.

They are a bit heavier, but really what’s 7-8 ounces in the grand scheme of things? Especially when you can have confidence in the scope.

What went bad? I've had my VX3 for a few year and its had some light nocks but still still seems to be bang on.

Have you considered the SWFA 3-9? It’s a few ounces lighter than a Nightforce but generally trusted as a reliable and robust scope.

Leup VX5HD 3-15X44. Light, and some great glass! If you get your data right the CDS dial is spot on.
