Curious what everyone uses for chafe tape in the backcountry? I have used leukotape with great success in the past but have developed a form of allergic reaction to it. Purchased a new roll in hopes it was just a bad batch and no dice. I put some on my heels and after a day had to remove it due to the reaction of my skin. Took nearly three weeks to heel up and put a damper on my elk trip this year. I didn’t let it push me off the mountain but it sure did irritate while hiking. I typically don’t need anything on my feet but it can definitely prevent hot spots from starting up so figured I would see what’s out there and give it a whirl. Thanks

I use black gorilla tape.

I've used silver duck (duct) tape. I'd be careful if you're having a reaction to the leuko!

I can tell you that I've attempted use of Tegaderm and it didn't stay on. I tried tenacious tape and it didn't stay on.

I've also used the nexcare waterproof bandages and they stick really well. You might try the Nexcare blister bandages.

Definitely following this!

I have had the exact same experience w L tape.
I used to swear by it. Now I swear at it! Tried 3 times. Yup some kind of sensitivity.

A high quality duck tape on a clean dry foot will stick for over 12 miles in my personal Experience, the deal is putting it where you know you get hot spots, field application works but is less than ideal. Trim it well so the excess doesn’t roll up and it will stick very well

Kinetic tape has worked for me. Hope I have spelling right. More a sport oriented but similar. Not as sticky so I know the glue is different and I believe less. It comes pre cut in 10” pieces with backing. I have used it on a small injury in the field and like. I carry a bit of both.

Try KT tape or one of the knockoffs. Works very well for me.

Side note, those white "liner socks" give me some weird reaction all over my feet. Still dealing with a spot on my heal from a few weeks ago. Weird stuff.

KT tape has a new tape specifically for hotspots and blisters. I used it on this years trip and worked perfectly. Package says good for up to 2 days. I left mine on for 4 days and had no peeling or bunching and it comes off easier that leukotape.

Appreciate the responses. I was highly disappointed when I realized I couldn’t use Luekotape anymore. Stuff worked great! Highly recommend to anyone who doesn’t have an allergic reaction to it
