I've been lugging my Tikka Whitetail Hunter 300 WM around for the last 15 years or so, and I'm ready to upgrade to something a little lighter. Am I better off buying a new Tikka t3x lite in SS, or just making upgrades to my current gun? If I kept the current gun, a new stock would cost almost as much as a whole new rifle.

Ultimately, I'm looking for that "custom" look and feel without breaking the bank. Let's see some of your semi-custom Tikkas and a list of upgrades/modifications, with an approximate cost.

Would you happen to know the weight of the bare rifle? That's an awesome build. Are you satisfied with the accuracy?

Just started with it. Starting out working up something for the 181gr hammer bullets hunter (I prefer to hunt monos where feasible). Also will be working up a load with the 208 eldm and/or 215 berger.
Id be interested what you come up with in the elds and bergers! Good looking rifle too.

I forget who owns the rifle but he has posted pics before, it is kryptek camo and flat dark earth cerakoted barrel and action that looks really good. I have been tossing around the idea of replacing the stock on mine but don't shoot enough to justify the price on one.

Pics are fine on my end from my phone. Are you viewing at work? My company has a filter that blocks most pics/videos.

Out of curiosity what are these rifles costing you guys to build?

Gun price varies, my 280AI was built on an M695 I got rather affordably as someone let the barrel rust up.
Premium barrels: $300-800 with the upper end being the carbon ones, $300-350 being typical for a typical all metal barrel.
Install chambering: $250-350 range typically.
Stocks are across the board from reuse factory to buying a premium one at full retail price.
Bottom metal ranges from reuse factory to $250 options for different mags/coal.

Lots of variations from there.
Cerokote costs if applicable (stainless you can just bead blast if you'd like).
Bedding costs if applicable depend on the extent.
Muzzle threading if applicable is often ~$100
Muzzle brakes are $80-$250 range depending on complexity/material.

These are all broadly speaking off memory numbers for ballpark chatter not gospel.

I like it. Us lefties have very few choices when it comes to firearms.

I can see all images now for some reason....so my next question is with the manners stocks.

When you order from manners is it pretty much just a drop in if I stick with a standard caliber (300 win mag), or will there be any gun smith work required? For those that have swapped out the stocks, do you see any increase in performance or does it shoot just as well from the factory?

I love the looks of those stocks, but if I won't see an increase in performance than I might be better off sticking with the factory stock and having it coated to my liking. What about the tikka upgrade kits? Are they worth it?

I also noticed the new tikka chassis on manner's website. Is that just a drop-in chassis to allow for the use of AI-style mags?

I apologize for all the questions, but I'm fairly new to these upgrades. Always been a factory guy.
