Easy, if light weight is important to you go with the talleys. If durability is important, go with the rail. Personally I would go sportsmatch. That said, talleys have been fine for me.Parts box Tikka is back from the gunsmith today. I’ve hit a snag. I have both a set of talley ultra lights and a mountain tactical rail/ Seekins rings. It’s getting a Razor LHT 3-15x42 mil. Which option do I go with!?

I know all this. It’s still not helping me decide which one.Easy, if light weight is important to you go with the talleys. If durability is important, go with the rail. Personally I would go sportsmatch. That said, talleys have been fine for me.
It’s weird to me that everyone seems to think direct screw mounts fail now? That’s how literally every other rifle mounts an optic? Not that this was one of your options but what I would do is sell all that and get some UM rings. I want some thing a little beefier than Talleys. And I went away from rails as an additional failure point. The Seekins are good rings but I prefer the UMs for a beefy direct mount
Sell the parts you have and buy a set of UM rings. If you really feel the need for a rail, glue it down and use nightforce rings. If that's not in the budget, I would glue down the rail and use the seekins rings personally from a durability standpoint. I have used several sets of Talleys and not had an issue but they are definitely not as robust as seekins rings. It’s weird to me that everyone seems to think direct screw mounts fail now? It’s a 1/8 twist 22/250. I bought the rifle cheap and had all of the rest of the crap laying around in my parts box. Had the barrel cut to 18 and threaded. Everything else from this project was on a original T3 CTR 260 that’s in this thread a page or two back.Sell the parts you have and buy a set of UM rings. Your comment forgets that most rifles and optic systems are not built for max durability, which should be priority #1 over weight.
Sweet rifle by the way! what's it chambered in?
Im not saying it WILL fail. To me its about illuminating possible failure points that could be a problem. One of the main reasons im sold on tikkas now. They just flat out work, and if I can do things like robust direct mount rings I will. If I fly into the frank church or travel out of state I want as much of the chips stacked in my favor as possible. Just my 2 cents, but you do you. It’s weird to me that everyone seems to think direct screw mounts fail now? That’s how literally every other rifle mounts an optic?
They don’t fail if installed properlyIt’s weird to me that everyone seems to think direct screw mounts fail now? That’s how literally every other rifle mounts an optic?

What are your thoughts on the Mountain Tracker stock? Deciding between it or another Allterra.T3 6.5cm stainless 16” chopped fluted barrel, SWFA 10x42 gen 2, McMillan Mountain Tracker, atlas bipod. Shooting 130 TMK
I’ll let you know after Sunday, I literally just mounted the gun into it.What are your thoughts on the Mountain Tracker stock? Deciding between it or another Allterra.
You guys are focused on the wrong part of what was recommended regarding Talleys. It’s not to do with how you mount them. That’s not where the failure comes from. Cheap aluminum Talleys can crack. Here’s a thread:Agreed

I just upgraded the scope on 300wsm from
Vx5hd to a maven rs1.2. I currently have Talley rings I’ve been using. And want to keep using them. But I want to make 100% sure they are as reliable as the rs1.2 that im mounting with them. I d not want any questions on reliability when it come
To this system. I’ve already leaved the hard way with the Vx5hd.
Any thoughts are greatly appreciated thanks!
