Let's See Your Semi-Custom Tikka Builds

Parts box Tikka is back from the gunsmith today. I’ve hit a snag. I have both a set of talley ultra lights and a mountain tactical rail/ Seekins rings. It’s getting a Razor LHT 3-15x42 mil. Which option do I go with!?

Easy, if light weight is important to you go with the talleys. If durability is important, go with the rail. Personally I would go sportsmatch. That said, talleys have been fine for me.

I know all this. It’s still not helping me decide which one.

Not that this was one of your options but what I would do is sell all that and get some UM rings. I want some thing a little beefier than Talleys. And I went away from rails as an additional failure point. The Seekins are good rings but I prefer the UMs for a beefy direct mount

It’s weird to me that everyone seems to think direct screw mounts fail now? That’s how literally every other rifle mounts an optic?

Sell the parts you have and buy a set of UM rings. If you really feel the need for a rail, glue it down and use nightforce rings. If that's not in the budget, I would glue down the rail and use the seekins rings personally from a durability standpoint. I have used several sets of Talleys and not had an issue but they are definitely not as robust as seekins rings.

Your comment forgets that most rifles and optic systems are not built for max durability, which should be priority #1 over weight.

Sweet rifle by the way! what's it chambered in?

It’s a 1/8 twist 22/250. I bought the rifle cheap and had all of the rest of the crap laying around in my parts box. Had the barrel cut to 18 and threaded. Everything else from this project was on a original T3 CTR 260 that’s in this thread a page or two back.
