Love the stock! Been considering it myself. How do you like it?

Love the stock! Considering it myself. How do you like the scope? I had it in my cart and decided on the VX5. Now I'm back searching for an optic - want a little more power than the 3-15.

I'm heavily considering a bravo for my hunting rig. Is that your primary use?

Personally I’d go Bravo over the VG Hunter if I were you, the Bravo has considerably better ergonomics and really isn’t that crazy heavy.

What weight are you currently sitting at?
I am working on a project that is eerily similar to this and want to stay light, but functional with minimal recoil. I know compared to your setup, my optic is around 9 ounces lighter. But, I am not sure I would change too much else - maybe the can for a brake until I get a Ti can, and then no bipod (using my trekking poles).

Appreciate any insight.

I’m at 10lb 10oz including a mag with 3 rounds and a neoprene scope cover. Bipod 1lb 0.75oz, can is 13.25oz. This is actually the first time I’ve put it on a proper scale and, wow, it hurt my feelings.
Also in February I asked the smith to cut it to 20”, assumed he did, shot/hunted with it from spring bear to now, and only last weekend when I set it next to my dad’s 22” model 70 realized he’d actually chopped it to 18” . Not a huge weight difference but it’s a happy accident and I feel now that I wouldn’t want any longer with a 7ish inch can.
Side note: it did the trick last weekend with a 162gr ELDX at 267 yards.

This rocks. I wish I hadn’t been sucked into a flashy stock. Guys seem to have great results with the factory stock and some minor upgrades to the ergos. That and a few minutes with a can of rustoleum looks pretty damn aftermarket to me. Lots of ammo could be had for the price of a mcmilllan or manners.
Someone who’s done it both ways and has a much higher round count than me feel free to confirm or dispute this claim.

I have some really nice chassis guns but they are all heavy. My 7mm RM was my choice to carry on a WY elk hunt. I really wanted an MDT HNT-26 for it but just could not justify the cost. So I modified what I had thinking I would pick up an HNT-26 later. The results were so comfortable that I decided to stick with it. The money I saved went towards scratching my tripod itch which really worked well on the hunt.

Needs rattle can badly.

16.5” 6.5cm threaded and adapted by Marty.
Scythe Ti
SWFA 10x
UM Mid Rings
UM level
RokStok
High Desert Linear BM
Factory 120 eld-m @ 2700 fps

7lb 14oz unspressed
8lb 6oz as shown
9lb 2oz w/ ill-fitting Gunwerks bipod

Worth noting that with a light scope, short barrel, and light suppressor, the 29oz Rokstok certainly results in a chunkier weight than one might expect from a compact carbon hunting rifle. That being said, I truly don't want to shoot my other stocks anymore (besides my Bravo and modified factory, but including the Phoenix 2, with which I was quite happy before for competition).

You had me looking up the 6.5xm wildcat. But then I noticed “x” and “c” are next to each other on the keyboard.

I like the stock. I was worried about the long trigger reach but after getting comfortable I really like the palm swell. I wear a medium glove and it doesn't feel long. So far its durable, it is loud if you rapp on it.

The scope fits the bill for this ultralight build, but makes some compromises. Glass is crisp, mag dial is smooth and has a small throw lever, and the zero stop turret is functional out to practical hunting distances. The dial does not go past 1 full revolution /12 MOA for some reason. I dont anticipate hunting past 800 yards but it would be nice to practice out further. I also wish Leopold would offer different reticles. My perfect scope on this rifle would be a similar weight 3-15 sfp with some vertical subtensions and turrets with more than 1 revolution, but I guess there's no free lunch.

Hi all, my new stock is enroute from wildcat here in Canada, coretac bottom metal, and the rest is at the Smith to be reemed and trued from a 7mm08 to 280ai with la mag and altered bolt stop. Going to see how the factory barrel shoots but I'm looking for options for a new barrel with factory contour if it doesn't. Merry Christmas from British Columbia. I don’t remember if I’ve posted this or not but I’ve killed a few caribou and my largest moose yet with it.

-t3x lite 30-06
-barrel cut to 18”, threaded for 5/8x24
-vertical grip
-sportsmatch to84
-nightforce SHV 3-10
-limbsaver pad
-high desert bottom metal
-mtngear pic rail with sling attachment

With my hand loads I’m getting a 180g accubond or partition just under 2700fps (like 2680) which keeps me above 1800fps out a bit past 500yds (a bit less with the partition) which is more than adequate for 95% of the hunting I do.

I also have a nearly identical one in 6.5 creed, just waiting to get it back from the barrel chop/thread.

One pic has the scythe on it, one has my ultra 7, I don’t know which one I like better, it’s a wash as far as I can tell shooting them side by side.

Just pulled my latest project out of the mail today. It’s a stainless T3 action that I had rebarreled to 6CM.

The barrel is an 18” Ace in a Tikka Sporter contour, but I had it flared slightly at the muzzle to get 5/8-24 threads and a bit of a shoulder. I hope it shoots the 108 ELDM factory load well. Thanks to @wind gypsy for the tip on getting the SAAMI spec chamber. All I need now if for my other Rokstok to ship. I’m pumped!
