Man all of these look fantastic!

I’ve got to admit, it’s hard to not drink the kool-aid on these Tikkas.

For those of y’all who’ve gotten a Tikka and customized it a bit, do y’all really love tinkering or is it just because the rifle as it comes doesn’t fit the need/niche you’re looking to fill? Anyone wish they just bought a “semi-custom” rifle outright? To get it set up the way just you want it, what’s the average cost?

Part of it is the love of tinkering, partly because it's uniquely "mine" and not some off the shelf rifle like everyone else. I bought clearance and used parts so I'm into my build for the same price as a CA Mesa. What I have is a rifle that fits me, has a much better stock, better and smoother action and better trigger. I can't think of a better rifle for around $1200ish than what I have.

The Mesa stocks are advertised at 1.5 lbs. anyone else have any actual weights on them in the tikka version?

The sendero barrel inlet they weigh 29oz. That 24oz weight is for a remington 700 long action inlet with sendero contour. They're lighter due to no recoil lug ans more inletting.

You can take a great rifle and make custom to fit you. But there are some obvious changes that’d I’d do to every Tikka first starting with trigger spring. The avg depends on the rifle. I have 6 or 7 Tikkas right now!

Just finished up my 6.5 creed super light

-Barrel cut to 22”
Threaded

-MBM 3 port .800” OD brake timed and tapered to barrel

-Bolt fluted by LRI

-Lumley Ti & Carbon bolt handle

-Mountain Tactical bottom
metal and trigger spring

- Axial Precision stock bedded by axial with Area 419 ARCA plate and Javelin gunsmith bipod adapter

- Nightforce NXS 2.5-10x42 in Sportsmatch rings


I absolutely love this rifle. Took it out on Saturday and was able to zero and get dope to 520. Can spot impacts and the stock feels great.

Weights just under 8lbs with an empty mag

I have the same rifle, ordered a wildcat composites stock, plan to cut the barrel, have it rechambered to 6.5 prc and open the bolt face, or just put my 6.5 Sherman max 22" fire forming barrel on, and use that! The creed is such a soft shooter, makes it quite nice. I really don't want to rub a brake, but if I go 6.5 max I will. 78gr of powder in a 5.5# gun will be pretty jabby.

Thanks bud, I’m real happy with it. I started this project because I wanted to start dabbling in some longer range shooting and so I went 6.5 CM for the soft shooting and available factory ammo, but I will probably start reloading.

I wasn’t too worried about weight, I have a 6lb all up 338 Fed Montana, or power as I have a 300WM Fierce, and a whole bunch of other rifles.

I feel this rifle is exactly what I was wanting and will definitely get picked up for all my Texas Whitetail hunting and for pronghorn or a mule deer hunt if I ever go on a rifle hunt.


I’m really thinking about doing another Tikka in 223.... maybe a 300wsm down the road.

Tikka makes 8 twist 223 and 22-250. Great guns to shoot out to 700y and really simulates shooting much further due to all the drop. I think I own 7 tikkas? Lol

So I built another Tikka 6.5 PRC. This one started as a SS Tikka 6.5 Creedmoor. I had Shaen open the bolt up to Magnum and then had S&S Precision punch out the stock barrel to 6.5 prc. I also had the barrel cut to 20” and threaded. I put it in a Manners EHT stock that I wasn’t using. Here are the results.

Mine is inletted for a heavy sporter barrel and it weighed in at 30oz.

Pretty discouraging they’re so heavy in a tikka. I really really like my Mesa stocks.

This week I received a new carbon fiber McMillan Game Scout inletted for our long action AICS bottom metal for my T3x rechambered to 280a. Using accurate mag 3rd 300 WM magazine and allows an OAL of 3.5” without any mods to action or trigger



This McM Game scout with the carbon shell and EDGE fill tips the scales at exactly 32 oz with 3 flush cups, 4” bipod rail, steel recoil lug, and Limbsaver. This is over a half pound lighter than my original fiberglass game scout with reg fill.

I originally started my own thread for this rifle cause I was so proud of it, but now that I’ve shot it a little I’ll just post an update here. I could only find two boxes of Hornady American Whitetail ammo but I knew it would work for the first range trip. Eventually I’ll get time to reload, and maybe get to shoot at home where I’m not getting peppered with hot brass by the guy to my left that’s dumping 30 round mags with his AR. But within the first 10 rounds I shot this group and I couldn’t be happier.

24in sendero from Carbon Six chambered in 25-06 sitting in a McMillan HTG. And I’ve got a Leupold 2-12x42 on top.

XLR magnesium chassis with folding stock
MBnM ti 4 port beast brake
Area419 20moa rail, Hawkins rings, mk5hd 3.6-18x44
Rifles refined walnut grip.

Some of the groups shot while fire forming. All adg brass needs the necks turned unfortunately. So that needs done before I start load development.
