Crack a beer to take off the edge and just spray it, if you don't like it just spray over until you get it right. Were you able to get the factory barrel unscrewed to thread it, I want to cut down and thread 2 of my Tikkas, but the last one I rebarreled took a relief cut in front of the action to get it apart which ruins the factory barrel.

View attachment 265414More stock than custom, I’d say, but it’s a 6.5 cut to 18.5”. Can is a SiCo Omega 300 using the Area 419 mounting system. Vertical grip should be here this week, too. I also have a 30-06 being cut right now that’ll end up being an exact clone of this.

I was *this* close to picking up an XLR chassis this year but have postponed those plans considering I’m paying for a wedding in a few months.

There are some sweet rattle can jobs on this thread that I’m envious about, but don’t trust myself!

Here's a supply list i borrowed from Google for a really easy tan paint with black webbing. The webbing is pretty easy to do, the nozzle does all the work.. just give it a quick YouTube, easy peasy.

I’m going to be honest here and tell you that I’ve got no idea what/how my gunsmith threaded it...only that he did. I can ask if you’d like?

I think I'm going to drop off my 6.5CM with my smith today and see what he can do, I've never played around with short barrels before so it should be interesting to work on some load development.

End of the month she's getting a new barrel, but so far the only semi-custom work is I replaced the T3 stock with a T3X with the vertical attachment, put on a limb saver, and took the plunge on the rattle can.

Followed the BigWoods recipe from a separate thread. 4-5 light base coats of flat olive, then use the textured stone for the speckle finish, and then a few coats of matte clear. I practiced with a 2x4 to get the speckle right, then had at it.

How aggressive is the finish? I used that same stone textured paint on a tikka stock and don’t like how gritty it is. I probably laid it on too heavy though.

What are the advantages to putting a butting a bottom metal on the Tikas? is it enhances how the rifle works or just because its bad ass? Is there any other have to mods in you opinion when upgrading your rifle?
I have installed a few aluminum bottom metal that take factory or aftermarket factory style mags. They torque up better to pillars with less flex. I have/had 6 semi customs off the Tikka action, 2 with plastic bm pillar bed into custom stocks, 2 in chassis, 2 with aluminum bottom metal bed into custom stocks, and they all shoot the same. The Tikka works great for short mags, short action, x284 cases, blaser case. I wouldn't build with a parent case over 2.5" as then you're going to need a redsnake or mtn tactical aics long bottom metal and use the heavy magazines. This will add near a half a pound to the gun pretty easily over factory components. There is a short mag case that will do anything up to 80gr long action cases will do. After that, you need a real long action to take advantage of the capacity.

Who are you guys’ using to build these beauties? I can’t seem to be able to find a local smith capable of what I’m seeing here. Needing (wanting as my wife would day) a tikka 300wm with a proof barrel, decent stock and a cerakote job

Nothing fancy just dropped in a chassis and think I settled on a load today. It’s shooting so good I can’t see changing much at the moment . Group is 5 shots at 100. When funds allow it’ll get upgrading glass. Now it’s time to start messing with the 308.643FEAFF-F5C5-42BE-9B56-B8C370DAB03A.jpegB25F867D-82B9-4360-8454-F26615649EC3.jpeg

I have Hells Canyon Armory doing mine. He does a ton of Tikkas. You can send your action and get any cambering you want. The "package" in the URL is just limited I think. He is doing a 280ai for me.
