Has anyone had any experience with sending in a pair of Leica binoculars for restoration and clean up? When your not the original owner. Or can you even do that?

Yes i have and they were great. Super easy. Give them a call. They offer free estimates. Fill out the form ship it to them. Once received, they will have it recorded and looked at by a tech within a few days. You will be contacted with the estimate and reccomended fixes. If you dont want it fixed, they will ship it back at their cost. Because it is there glass, if it is not covered under, it is still very fair in my opinion. A basic cleaning adjustment, bushing, and lubricant is 150. They always use 2 day air return. Hope this helps.

As stated above a very good experience for me as well. Leica took care of postage both ways! Another option I used for a repair of Leitz (name they used before Leica) Trinovid 7x42BA I bought on the gray market in 1990 is, "Company 7" in Maryland. They are exceptional with repair or servicing optics, Leica / Leitz in particular. Great to deal with but use a telephone to make initial contact. They have a website and it Totally Sucks by today's standards, BUT there is some excellent info on it. Just think internet 15 years ago!
35 years with Leica / Leitz optics and only two problems 1 I caused, 1 they caused. That is good by me.
