Anyone put one up against an sts/ats 65 or an atx/stx 65? real curious how they are compared. What is the real world weight of the leica?

I would try and look for yourself. I've looked through both and like the way animals look in the ATX(they seem to pop out with the swaro's), but I know several people that think the Leicas are better. Swaro has better customer service IME.

How much ahead of the s series swarovski is the x? Really trying to decide if I really need more than an sts, and if I want the added weight of the Leica or the stx

I own an ats 80 HD and have looked through a couple of atx 85' now and the atx is head and shoulders above imo. If I had the money an atx would be in my pack regardless of the extra weight. The depth of the detail you can see with the atx is phenomenal. This spring I had the opportunity to have my ats 80 hd beside an atx 85 looking at all kinds of herons in a rookery area and looking at the feather details through both the atx gave much more definition and depth. It might not translate to more game found but it was an absolute pleasure to use the atx. My ats really only suffers in comparison to the atx but what has been seen cannot be unseen. There was a chick with a silver 77 leica there but I only got to glance through it and the glance didn't leave an impression of greatness but it was only a glance and I didn't get any details about the model. She was a bit unfriendly.

I briefly owned a 65mm Leica and used it side by side next to my 80mm non-HD ATS. The optics are really good and the light gathering at dusk was surprisingly close to the bigger scope. What I found that I did not like is the Leica was only a couple of oz. lighter than my Swarovski, so it got sold. The eye piece on the Leica is almost a pound.

I have an ATS 65 for sale now after buying an ATX 85.
The ATX and the larger objective is worth every ounce and dollar in my opinion.
