I don't know if this counts as a modification but I decided to make a clamp for my Leica 1600 to put on my Gitzo head. This was my first attempt at machining so it's beta version 0001. I may make a smaller knob but I had this one lying around so I used it. I made the tripod adapter separately and blue loctited it in place. I also tapped a hole in the adapter for the larger tripod nuts in case I ever want to use it on another tripod. I painted it with self etching primer.

It weighs over 4 oz. so it's not ultralight but it certainly didn't cost me $99. I might could save another ounce somewhere but this is what I got.

Just a block of aluminum I had lying around. I drilled and bored it on a lathe for the bottom rounded portion and rest was done on a small mill.
