Over the years I've seen people ask about sending in leica's for cleaning and mine went in again late last year. For the process, just Google "leica repair form usa" and the whole process will pop up and it'll include their phone number and email.

These binos are old Trinovid BN 12 x 50's that I bought off a friend when he was a leica rep, so I have no "proof of purchase" and that has never been a problem. I sent them in and asked to have them cleaned. One detail is that you need to provide them with a payment method before they will proceed.

When it was all said and done, 7 weeks total and $35 for shipping.
cleaned the binos
purged with nitrogen
adjusted focus
adjusted collimation
cla (clean/lube/adj)
replaced right prism
replaced the complete body armor and labels

Other than some small glass coating imperfections from years of use, they look brand new. I believe this is the 4th time I've sent a pair in for cleaning and they have always been great to deal with; I have never had an issue.

If anyone has my old leica 8x42ba's serial number 1075733... you hqve an amazing sample. I still miss that set enough to have never forgotten the serial number.

One time they quoted me 4–6 weeks and it went to 10. I called to check in and they were upfront: waiting on a part from Wetzlar. No excuses, just a straight answer. They offered to send the binoculars back and have me send them in again later, but I just waited. They’ve never lost a piece of gear or messed up a repair in my experience.
