yeah, i didn't mean to confuse you. We are surviving together in one bag and maybe even catch a glimpse of sleep but it has nothing to do with what people would consider comfortable. This is never ever planned for, just a backup on hikes that we dont plan for an overnight, but want something to keep us from hypothermia if we get stuck.
Rather consider, that my GF after seeing what the regular size looks like, opted for the large. We both sleep mostly on stomachs and sides so we require a lot of space.
Bigger is better. There is no real downside, except for a bit of weight increase. If you intend to sleep in sub-freezing at all I personally would go XL, even if weight is important and even if I was 5'8ft. The XL is massive, but you want that.
Most of my frustrating experiences with quilts came down to sizing them to manufacturer spec...which was too small. Just saying.
