I will be pulling the trigger on some new rangefinding binos in the next week. I am coming from the Leica Geovid HD-Bs where I liked everything about the glass, fit/finish, feel in the hand. The rangefinder left something to be desired. Hunting is my primary use case. These will be my primary glassing binos, even out west where a 12x or 15x may be preferred. With NRL hunter being secondary. Finding vids on these 2 products isn't the easiest. What's everyone's preference on here and why?

Which model of the HD-Bs did you have? I may be interested if you’re looking to move them.

I have a pair of EL Range TAs from 2022. The ergonomics and field of view are really good, although not as good as NLs. I really appreciate how accurate and quick the RF is. I've found the basic ballistic calculator to be within 0.1 mil to 700 yards too.

I don't recall exactly which model they were. I sold them earlier this year. I liked the glass just wanted the more sophisticated onboard ballistics.

@rootacres - I have the 10x32 Geovid Pros which are used primarily for glassing. I really like the size they offer vs the 10x42s and don’t feel like I’m giving up any clarity. The laser speed can leave something to be desired during the matches I’ve shot with it. It’s less about the readout speed of any one laze and more about the reset speed for follow up rangings - there is a slight delay before it’s ready to fire again. You’re talking sub 1 second still so it’s splitting hairs but they aren’t nearly as fast as 10Ks or Vectronix. On that, I’m curious if you considered the Vectronix at all?

Leica Geovid Pro AB+. I got them this summer and haven't used them on a hunt but did use them at a 3 day LR shooting class. Here are my impressions from another post.

I have the Swaro 10x42 TA and recently bought the Leica Geovid Pro AB+. They are very similar on the optic side - both very good quality, lacking nothing IMO.

On the app side, the clear advantage goes to Leica. First off, the Swaro app only allows 3 rifle profiles which is a pain. I have not hit the limit yet in the Leicas but have loaded 5 profiles so far. I did not like having to delete profiles to add additional profiles. There are also many more inputs with the AB ballistics - can add in offset, zero conditions, etc.

I have not kept track or compared side by side, but I seem to get more consistent readings from the Leica as far as what I am aiming at with the laser. I am not sure how the lasers actually compare from a tech standpoint but I feel like I get fewer readings around the target and more on the target from the Leicas.

I will be selling the Swaros and keeping the Leicas.

Any difference in optical clarity? Will be purchasing soon and had heard in the past swaro had a large edge

I’m not an optics expert but to me I didn’t notice much of a difference. Both are very good but I’m probably not going to pick up any small advantages one may have over the other optically. But the app, ranging, and confidence while ranging all went to leica.

Beautiful, thank you. Will be going leica. (For the record what I had heard this on was a previous comparable leica model)
