Hello. Just got a pair of geovid 3200.coms. I have paired with a Kestrel, but noticed it took me maxing out the kestrel Bluetooth setting to get them to pair and then they won’t stay connected when both units are within a foot or so of one another, both on my person. Has anyone experienced this issue? Wondering if the blue tooth in the glasses is bad and want to determine while I am still in the return period.

I checked with my Leica tech rep, and he replied:

"His Geovid should stay connected reliably out to 3 feet. He needs to make sure he’s running the latest firmware in his Kestrel and set the Kestrel to refresh its connection on the fastest setting. I have a cheat sheet document I’ll send him if you want to tell him to contact me."

If you'd like the "cheat sheet" please pm your e-mail address to me. I hope this helps

You Folks at Cameraland are always awesome. Thanks for the insight!! I'm a customer and make referrals to others for this exact reason. PM on it's way!

I have extensive experience with this exact setup. In my experience, I have to mid-power or more on the bluetooth settings to keep them connected. Usually no more than a few feet apart max. I keep them both in my bino harness. If the get 4ft or more apart, they disconnect here and there. But overall, have been a solid system... my only gripe is no decimal or "mil" in the reticle when giving corrections in mils.

Thanks. That’s exactly what’s happening to me, although it seems they can’t be much more than 18 inches apart before they disconnect and I have the kestrel set on max Bluetooth power. Set up is awesome, just frustrating to have to hold the kestrel so close. This is even occurring after changing the refresh times.

How much more accurate is the kestrel paired with the 3200.com vs the 3200 alone? I have the 3200.com and they have been very accurate. Is it worth the money for kestrel inadditon? Is it an inch more accurate or a larger gap? Thanks

That is a good question. I don't think it is necessarily about accuracy as much as it is having more options. With the kestrel, you aren't limited to 1000 yards, you aren't limited to one rifle and you have better atmospheric readings. In addition you get a windage holdover as well.
