Upgraded my Geovid 10x42 HDs to the newer HD-Bs.
The obj caps/covers are terrible. Anyone have a replacement idea for a better cap.

They are the worst lens covers ever made, especially for a $3000 set of bino's. What I did was call Leica USA and told them the objective lens covers fell off/lost and they sent me a new set free of charge no questions asked. I then took the original set and cut the rubber tether between the lens covers and the ring which goes onto the bino's and replaced it with para-cord. I crazy glued the cord on both ends. Works like a charm. I will try and post pics tonight. The reason I had Leica send me a new set is so I have a set unmolested in case I ever want to sell them. How this got through QC on Leica's end I will never know, absolutely ridiculous. Other than the lens cover issue I love the bino's.

I decided to bump up this horribly old thread in the hopes that maybe someone had found a good replacement solution for the, otherwise superb, Leica Geovid R 10x42’s subpar front lens covers.

I lost one while hunting with them last week (it somehow pulled off while they were around my neck). I was able to get a free replacement by a three minute phone call to Leica. I’m impressed with the customer service, but I would be even more impressed with a better set of lens covers. Has anyone found one?

Which bino harness do you like the best?
I think its discontinued but the large kuiu pro bino harness fits RF binos like the Geovid rs and fury 5000s well. you can mold the front section to form sort of the point of a triangle so its easier to get them in and out and it comes with spacers so you can adjust optimum height.

I lost mine on the first hunt out with them as they were only in a half cover bino harness back then (eye pieces only covered). I now just run them without covers in a full harness for 10+ years now (Twin Needle NZ) and the lenses have no marks. Faster to use that way as well not having to flip off caps individually.
