I previously owned a pair of BN 7x42’s but had to pass them along (to my never ending regret) when my son was born. I’ve wanted to find another BA/BN since, but my teacher’s salary makes the eBay prices seem a bit eye watering.

I’m not so concerned about cosmetic wear so long as the glass and function is solid. If anyone has a pair they’d be willing to let go for a reasonable price, I would be very appreciative.

Thanks.

Thanks for the link! Another poster actually passed it along via private measure earlier today, and I’m asking the seller some follow questions.

The price is about my ball park, but it’s hard to tell the condition of the lenses in those photos.

I understand if you have your heart set on a Trinovid BA/BN - I owned a nice 7x42 BN myself and it was a very nice optic and a wonderful item to own. They do fetch a premium on the used market, especially in clean condition.
There are a few other options you may consider if optical performance is more of a priority. I would recommend checking these out - sometimes a good deal comes along. Any of these would be as good as the Trinovid - some will be better, most (all?) are also be lighter.
Meopta Meostar/Cabelas Euro HD 8x32
Swarovski SLC 8x30
Zeiss Conquest HD 8x32
Nikon LX/LXL 8x32
Also, if you're not opposed to a Porro - Nikon SE 8x32 or EII 8x30 are both excellent optics... the FOV on the EII is gigantic.
I have a vintage Swaro Habicht 8x30 Porro in very good shape that I would part with...

Good luck!

Good recommendations. I’ve had the opportunity to pick up the 8x30 SLC, but I couldn’t get used to the focus knob position.

My experience with a pair of Nikon E 8x30 (not the E2) was that the wonderful view was challenged by frequent blackouts. I did learn a bit from some knowledgable birders on how to hold them more effectively, but I found the blackouts distracting.

That said, if Nikon/Swarovski an updated porro with modern eye cups, coatings I would stretch the bank to buy a pair.

I actually did find an 8x32 BA in worn but decent condition for a really good price. Will send them off the Leica for a little TLC.

We’ll see if they stretch the itch. If not, I’ll probably just move onto a Conquest and be done with it.
