Leica 1600-r question (red display issue)

Just picked up a used 1600-r for a good price. Looks new, but the case has shows some use so I’m wondering if it was a replacement unit sent to the guy on warranty or something.

Anyhow, the thing is awesome. I bought it because my other RF had a lot of trouble picking up anything beyond 800-1000. This Leica has no issues giving me readings out to 1700 in a quick test I just did.

The one issue is the red display. With the right lighting, the square aiming point shows a faint background of a microchip. There’s also very small dots over and under the yardage readout. Not really bothersome, but I was curious if that’s normal?

Anybody else with 1600’s notice the little dots above and below the yardage and a faint microchip looking thing around the aim square?

Playing around with it in the dark and it seems to be a case of the red display “washing-out” or bleeding out a little.
Doesn’t seem to affect function in anyway and is likely normal for such a display. Not really noticeable in bright light.

So normal? Function-wise it seems to perform amazingly well for what I need, which is essentially corrected horizontal distance for bow (100 yards) and rifle shooting up to 1200 yards.
