Left hand backcountry rifle?

What brand, what caliber? Looking to use it on elk and deer. Budget for the rifle itself would probably be around 2500-3k.

Personally if my budget was $2500-$3000, I'd save a few more pennies and go with a Fierce Edge chambered in 28 Nosler. It will probably be hovering around that $3000 mark in the end.

I've got safe full of lefties that the family uses. Have one 700 BDL 30-06 that is bedded into a Mcmillan Classic stock. Shoots 180 accubonds very very well. Total cost around $800. Factory barreled action I bought on Gunbroker cheap.

I'd probably order a McMillan Classic with your favorite color, grab a $350 short action stainless 700 off Budsgunshop, grab a $300 trigger tech diamond trigger, a $360 Hawk Hill, Bartlein, Brux, in an 8 twist 6.5 and build a 6.5x47 or 6.5 Creedmoor. Gunsmith is chambering one right now for $285. So what is that, around $1900 if you toss in a Holland lug. Seekins rail and rings gets you to $2050. Its pretty easy.

I will say just buying a lefthanded Tikka in 6.5 Creedmoor may be a really easy and good plan. Plus you'd be shooting it in a week. Put a 2.5-10 Nightforce or 3-9 SWFA on it.

For that much money, screw building. Buy a Fierce, Christensen, or Cooper and be done with it!

Some midline options would be a Christensen Mesa or Sako Finlight/Carbonlight.

sux being lefty, with the lefty 'tax' and lefty wait! my latest lefty hunting rifle is a tikka t3x lite in 300wsm for deer and elk, hoping to have that thing prove its worth this october! only a few rounds thru it so far but most i've read say they meet or beat their 1moa guarantee.

I went cheap for my first lefty bolt a Savage....wondering whether I would like it or not...love the lefty bolt.... its the way to go. The Savage shoots ok....but the fit and finish is cheap- plastic trigger guard, etc. I wish I would have spent a few hundred more and bought a Tikka.

Savages aren’t bad at all. Like you said a few hundred more and you have a Tikka though. I think I’ll buy a Bergara if they make the Ridge or Hunter in lefty. I like my T3 but it’s not built great for a magnum caliber. Christensen Mesa looks sweet too.

Idk if I could justify $2k for a hunting rifle, just don’t shoot enough.

Literally just brought home a left handed Tikka T3X SUPERLite from Sportsman's Warehouse tonight. Had to have it shipped to my local store. 7mm Rem Mag. Obviously can't report much on it......other than I THINK you'd have to spend a TON more cash to get MINOR improvements over this platform. Just my pre set up/shooting opinion. Still lotta snow up here but ill try to get it scoped and rung out at least a little ways very soon

I need the bolt on the left side as well. I am fond of weatherbys and own a few leftys. I also own left handed browning and tikkas. I have been trying to get a left handed Christensen for months now but still haven't got one yet! A left handed fierce would be pretty sweet!

With that budget I'd do like 30338 suggests and build exactly what you want off a stainless 700. There's getting to be a few of the niche manufactures making lefty's but nothing that's really interesting to me. Hopefully someday they'll make a LH fieldcraft.

I have 6 lefties. 2 700’s, a Winchester 70 Classic, a Savage 16, Ruger American, and a Borden. All custom barrels except for the Ruger. The 700’s came from the pre-Tikka days. The Savage and the Borden will shoot with a Tikka, the Ruger is close, the other 3 probably won’t most days.

For a hunting gun I’d buy the $800 Tikka in a standard affordable to shoot caliber and get a nice scope with the balance. Maybe a new Hunters Edge stock at some point. You’ll have to step up to the $4K level in the custom world to improve on it much.

By the way, are you guys finding a fierce rifle in lefty? They told me that they don’t make them.

any trigger, aluminum floor plate, greyboe stock, cerakote . You will have 1/2 MOA rifle for 2000$.
Or buy cooper laminate spotter rifle with 1/2 moa guarantee for 1900$.
Get 7 rem mag or 300 win mag because you can find them anywhere, and have enough hp to take down elk 1000 yards.

I did this last year, but with a Bushy 3-12 LRHS on it. I've owned/still own, a handful of LH customs, given my recent experience with this Tikka I'd say it's definitely the path of least resistance and the route I'd go.
