Headed into town this weekend with the family. Anybody else going this weekend? Anyone gone in the past? Looks like a good time.

Love the town, have spent a lot of time there in the summer (Mountain Biking), but never been in the winter, although I do have a friend from Philly who lives there now who will be there so there's half of me that would like to catch a flight and go. Summer Events are always a great time with people milling around.

If you like Pizza - High Mountain Pies, but get there or order EARLY if it's busy. I'm sure some of it's the locale, but might be my favorite pizza place anywhere.

I've not been for the ski joring, but I do love Leadville. I'm a farrier and I have a client that does the ski joring, and goes to most of the events around Colorado. So, you'll probably see a horse that I shoe run the course. (They wear shoes with extra traction, and pads to keep to snow from balling up)

We hunt the units up there, so have spent a bunch of time there in the last 20 years. Town has really turned around. High mountain pies is great and is our new stop. The grille used to be till it closed. Two mile brewing has a decent vibe too. I'll be up there this summer supporting some friends doing the Leadville 100, and hopefully getting in a little scouting.

I’ll definitely check it out. I imagine everywhere is going to be busy but we will try to hit it at an off time. Thanks

Do the Calcutta.. There is no snow like no snow in the valley so they have been making it for the past week or so and say there will be enough for tomorrow...

As its Leadvegas lots I mean lots of drinking.. Like over the top so get liquored up by noon!

The past decade or so it's gotten busy and lost its charm. Seems plenty of folks from the chitty like to come up and now its 3-6 deep to even watch.. Long ways from the cowboys riding their horses into the bar to get a drink for both of em..

If ya can get on top of one of the buildings as that's the best seats anymore. The roof on the Tabor is always my go to.. Quincys building will work as well..

Have fun but expect a lot of folks, hard to park, lines, and visit Jeff at the Famous as they will sell ya 16 0z of barrel aged stouts for ridiculously cheap.. After party at the elks buy some pull tab tickets and mix will locals...

I've been to a skijoring event before in Silverton. The difficult part is that you need to be elevated to have a decent line of sight on the race. Standing along the street isn't a very good view at all. You need to get access to a 2nd story patio or a rooftop if at all possible.

I was in Leadville Elk season 2023. It’s a really neat town. Friendly people, with a nice historical feel. Take a ride up Independence pass if you have some extra time.

This year in SLC they had to move the event because lack of snow. Have fun, they might have to truck in snow even to Leadville. i hear it has been pretty dry out there too

Ditto on High Mtn Pies...now I'm jonesing:)
I have to go back at some point just for that, we didn’t get a chance to try it. Lines were so crazy we ended up eating from food trucks for most meals.

We did end up getting cubans from Buchi cafe that were pretty good. Pretty funny considering we came from Tampa.

We had a great time. My boys really enjoyed it, I’d recommend it to anyone thinking about going. I’m sure it’s not what it used to be, but still plenty entertaining. I didn’t think it was too crowded, but I’m in FL, live close to one of the most popular beaches in America and an hour from Disney…. My definition of crowded is probably different than CO locals.
Crazy how little snow there was, even on the surrounding mountains. Sunday I think it got up to 70 degrees!

Thanks everyone for the suggestions, they definitely helped!
