I can't speak to the LBO but I can say that I haven't regretted buying the top quality gear but I have regretted buying lots of the "bargains" over the years. Congratulations on saving up for what you really want instead of settling.

Westernsloper,

The way I pitch mine is by staking out the two back corners (on the base) and the two tie outs on the vestibule (second from zipper) into a taught square. Then I install the pole and stake out the rest. After this, I will typically move the original stakes in the vestibule side (the ones that completed the square) to the the next tie out over (away from zipper) so that I can have a larger opening for the door and also tie the door back with the strings attached to the vestibule. Hope that makes sense.

Also, me and my bro-in-law used the base/3pc with stove for last years November elk hunt and it worked, but was a tad cramped with all the gear and stove in there as well. However, if you are planning on just backpacking with your wife, I'd imagine you will have more room and sleep closer to each other than we cared to do :) and depending on how tall y'all are, you could possibly sleep across in the base area and have the rest of the vestibule for the stove and gear. I would recommend guying out the 3 points at the back of the base though. It makes a huge difference in usable space.

Versatility was the clincher for me on the lbo. I have two bases and the 3pc vestibule. Had the Jack sewn into a base so I can run dual bases with the stove for extra space. Like the OP though, I haven't had mine in the field yet...

Which stove are u guys running in the lbo?

Move the vestibule corner stakes 4-6" closer to the base corner stakes and you should be all set.

Yeah, and adjust the pole alittle taller. Also, it may not be too much of an issue where your located but, in higher humitity areas, a pitch that is an inch or two off the ground can be very helpful with mitigating condensation. The LBO is a great little shelter and I can tell you from experience that it will take very fierce winds and do just fine, as long as your stakes hold.

Seek outside is top shelf gear! As I type this I am in my six man tipi in the backyard with my 7 year old son camping out! I have the stove and carbon fiber pole for mine and everything they make rocks! Looks like you need to extend your trekking pole more and make sure of your setbacks.

Thanks for posting these pics. I was looking at this today on their site for my wife and I . My wife is extremely scared of snakes here in Tx, so I would need a the nest add on. After looking at it for a little longer, I thought the nest was together with the LBO. I was ready to buy tonight!!But then discovered it's sold separately. I was pumped!! But honestly thinking I might just get the nest first since the summer feels like Africa and not really concerned about rain. Just bugs and snakes to make my wife feel safe and enjoy her time, which would mean I enjoy my time. I then can save up for the LBO when winter starts arriving. Anyone who has had the nest feel this would work for the summer here in Tx for an overnighter? Ans if she loves this, we can buy the main LBO after. Thanks again for sharing your pics and will be looking at how your next set-up looks like.

I have the same set up as you plus the nest. Measure how far the pole needs to be and you will be better at getting the proper height. Looks like the pole isn't tall enough. Should be about 2" taller than you think while your inside pushing up on it.

Also I adjust the angles to basically take up the same slack on both sides of the stake point.

I also like guying out the back points to open up the space inside.

This is before I guyed out the back and front points.

See how the center pulls the slack out as well as each side to side area with the ground stake?

Keep pitching it in your yard and you will get it. Don't pull the sides too tight before lifting the center pole. Just pull the sides snug before raising.

Just pulled the trigger on an LBO and 3p :) couldn't be more excited. Also went with the 2 person nest for when I bring the old lady up there. Was on the fence though about a stove Jack. If I should get it installed or just wait it out and get another base with Jack installed later on. Hah even when I make a decision I'm still indecisive.

I'm leaning towards the exact setup that you just went with Jarrod. I like the idea of the nest for certain trips, and could even see leaving the vestibule at home for some of those. Let us know what you think of it once you get to play around with it a bit.
