Seattle or Anchorage. Which do you prefer for an overnight layover? No plans to leave airport will just blow up sleeping pad and find a corner. I have been to Seattle a few times on the way to China, short layover so have a little idea of the airport.

If it's an overnight before your Alaska hunt, I would definitely do it in Anchorage. That way you know that you, your luggage, and your firearms at least made it to Anchorage, and you are more able to adapt quickly to in-state schedule changes due to weather or other factors. Plus, a lot less people who hate hunting in Anchorage than in Seattle.

Take this for what its worth. I had a layover this year in Anchorage on my way to moose hunt. I ubered to a close by hotel and got in 7 hours of great sleep and also got one more shower in. It was really cheap like $100 or something and I was able to check my bags all the way thru from Phoenix to dillingham. I forget the rules on checking the bags all the way thru, but I think it was if it was less than a 24 hour layover.

What is your full itinerary? I’ve slept over in ANC inside the terminal not by bag claim. my bags checked through to kodiak.

The terminal is open 24/7 with lots of red eye flights. I’ve slept upstairs overnight on a pad since the offices up there are 9-5 jobs. Less disruption up there for better sleep

You see quite a few people sleeping at the Anchorage Airport. Serving remote, low volume areas and weather contributes. Plenty of quiet places to doze. SeaTac has a nice USO if you qualify.

Not sure full itinerary yet that is the reason for the question on which airport for layover.

Your final destination? Also as to when the layovers would occur? As mentioned for Alaska hops I would say ANC is better than SEA unless there is a direct from SEA to your destination?

My preference is to arrive late and have the departing flight leave at a normal time in the am. Easier to find a quiet spot to sleep later as well.

Adak. Night layovers.

100% Anchorage over Seattle and if you have more than 8 hours then I’d highly recommend get getting a cab to a nearby hotel.

Keep in mind, I believe the restriction on being required to recheck your checked bags is 12 hour layover or more (at least for Alaska air). That almost cost us on our moose hunt in ‘18 when we had a 13 hour layover in Anchorage on our way to Bethel but luckily Alaska Airlines called woke us up to come collect our bags that we “forgot”. With the wake up call we had plenty of time to go back through checking our gear and firearms.
