Latest successful bear hunt?

I shot one in November in Washington, no real tactic. Ran into it in the timber while elk hunting.

I got one on Christmas Eve in West Virginia several years ago by tracking it in fresh snow. The regular firearms season ends on December 31 but there is also a short heritage season (primitive weapon) in mid-January. I often see bear tracks in January and February while squirrel hunting.

Crazy that it still would have been legal to kill this bear just a few days ago! And will be again in three months anyway

It was crazy, last hour of the last day of bear season, that started August 1st, and a good one was out and about. They have definitely become un-pattern-able and more nocturnal in the last few weeks but the 3 we have seen on that camera, have all been there in the last few nights.
