Late start family vacation around Yellowstone NP

I've done this a few times now and always get some great suggestions from the RS community. My family and I are out near Victor, ID for a few days. Then driving across the park into Cody, WY. Other than the usual stuff, any can't miss places to grab food, visit, or see?

Cody, we plan on doing the museum, rodeo, will prob drive the Beartooth one day.

Victor, not much planned, other than touring around. I have to take the girls into Jackson Hole one day.

Greatly appreciate any ideas. Thanks!

If you're already there, Beartooth Hwy should be a non-negotiable activity. Pack a lunch and picnic.

Drive up the back side of the Elk Refuge north of Jackson. The Bighorns should be hanging out where you can easily see the from the road.

It’s been about 10 years but me and my wife hiked the thunderer and avalanche peak (I think). Other than those, we did the basic loop, grant cabins, some hotel, ate at that 1950s style diner. Did a little fly fishing, camped at some campgrounds. It was a fun trip. I remember being impressed about how many places there were to buy beer to drink at my campfires.

We really took our time and did all the basic stuff, took pictures of waterfalls, did the boardwalks around glaciers, sat in the crowd to see old faithfull, did the short walk to get the good view of the grand prismatic geyser, I’m pretty sure we stopped at every spot along the way, it was super fun.

The biggest mule deer I’ve ever seen, I saw at the koala campground in Cody Wyoming, I got up to take a leak at like 3 am and it was out in a field. On the way back we did the Jackson hole, elk refuge in type of thing and stayed at a koa cabin down the road. There was an amazing burger place towards the south end of Jackson hole. We also saw some nice bighorn rams on the drive towards Laramie.

You may not have enough time to go to Dubois but the National Museum of Military Vehicles is awesome if you are a veteran or a History Buff. Lots of fully operational and restored tanks.
