Late Season Elk Tactic Question

Last night while out hunting I glassed a bull about 1.5-2 miles away and now I am trying to decide how to proceed. With family in town for the holiday today is off limits but I have the last 3 days of season to try and make something happen. My main question is during this time of year if I found a lone bull feeding in the evening should I expect him to stay in the area if not bumped? It is in a fairly remote area but there are a couple trails I could use to access it. Would it make sense to access it during the middle of the day and then think there is a reasonable chance of him staying in the same area? Basically I am a diehard archery hunter who has killed bulls during archery but due to my line of work I am trying to learn how to hunt elk with a rifle in the late season. I have never killed a bull with a rifle but feel like I am starting to get closer and just need to fine tune my approach. Happy Thanksgiving. Cheers!

If it was me I’d go back to where you saw him tomorrow morning and hope to see him again. If he goes into bed go set up on him and wait him out hopefully he feels like he is in a sanctuary and won’t go far

Good chance he stays right in his safe zone not going anywhere….do as above noted and you may be able to pattern his habits and or get a crack at him….good luck🤙

If there’s water, food, and no pressure he isn’t traveling far from that area

I found a bull the day after 3rd rifle ended. I found him opening morning of 4th, 4 days later. He had moved about 25 yards from where I saw him before. Too bad I only had a cow tag! ;)
