Got a few days to hit the mountains over Xmas and was hoping to catch up with a bear while I’m up there.

No clue what they’re doing this time of year since it’s a late winter to say the least. Heavy snow is starting to come in over the last few weeks. I have a target area that I’ve hunted deer and heard reports of bear in the area.

Any tips or is this going to be a long shot? X9A unit. Thanks and happy holidays fellas.

I can't offer much other than I spent a lot of time in the unit last year Sept./Oct. and never saw a bear and very little sign, nothing remotely fresh. I have always dreamt of filling a bear tag in late season, but I'm usually pivoted over to chasing pigs this time of year. Report back if you do make it out.

Similar boat. Spent a lot of time in that unit and never saw a bear. Just sign and reports from people in the area.

Might try to bag some ducks if it’s not frozen over. Seems like pretty little snow on the ground in the southern part of the unit which is why I thought I’d give it a shot for bear.
